Anyone know the Judge's political affiliation?

When discussing criminal allegations against office-holders, my rule of thumb is that if it's not mentioned in the first paragraph, most likely "Democrat"

That's a good rule of thumb, and highly accurate. I guarantee you can't Google "Hastert" without having "Republican" in the title of any hits.
By the way I heard on a Chicago radio station that Hastert will not appeal his 15 month sentence. He'd better lube up, the filthy pig.

While I agree with that assessment, I didn't want to go off half-cocked (see what I did there) and just call him a Democrat without some proof. I looked at a half dozen or so accounts of the story last night and could find no moention of it.

I'll admit it's not 100% reliable, but it's pretty much like getting dealt a 6-5 in blackjack. When the dealer asks if you want to double down, what do you do?

In many areas, Judges are considered non-partisan. In Florida, where judges are elected, they can't mention party affiliation, so unless they have held previous office, it can be difficult to find out.
My guess is D. for the reason mentioned.
