So according to the MSM Romney is the lead candidate for Secretary of State. I'm truly torn about this choice. I've had the pleasure to hear Romney speak several times when he was governor of Massachusetts and have also met him briefly several times. He seems like a really nice guy and is extremely intelligent. Honestly l think he would make Kerry look like a buffoon in his first few months if appointed, and would do a much better job. But I just can't get over his choke under the pressure of his presidential campaign and his establishment slant over the past few months. I understand he would be serving under Trump, but I think old habits die hard. I think strategically he would run circles around what we've had over the past 8 years but I'm feeling Giuliani would be a better choice. What do you think?

Put him in charge of dismantling the "A"CA.

If Rudy can't be AG I would like to see him at Homeland Security. And I still want Bolton at State.

Me too, but State will be Romney. Maybe Bolton will be offered an Ambassador position.

It's curious that Trump is appointing so many people that have been critical of him. Is it an attempt to mend fences, or does he really think they are the best in spite of the fact that they have disagreed with him in the past?

I think it is part of his consensus buildings. He will need cooperation from the establishment, and others to get his agenda through.

Keep in mind that any of these people can be fired at any time. I'm relatively certain that Trump is discussing what he expects and these candidates are agreeing to his expectations before they are nominated.

I think too much is made over "establishment". The voters proved very clearly that attempts to control them cannot be counted on.
I believe he is qualified and capable. He would be acceptable. So would a number of other people.

IF Romney is to have any position in this Admin, IMO it should be fixing the VA.
I will say the as he is establishing his cabinet Trump is definitely showing himself to be only interested in getting a team that will get shit done. I have already made peace with the fact that not all of his choices or even his directions to them will satisfy the Conservative in me, but I am actually very impressed by this activity, and by his seeking out good people regardless of their opposition to him as a candidate.
I think I saw it as a headline somewhere, maybe Drudge, that Trump may be America's first Independent President.
