I fail to understand the fascination, and idolization of Che Quevera, Fidel Castro, and Hugo Chavez with the left, especially leftist celebrities.
They lust after the total power that dictators like Chavez and Castro enjoy, and the celebrity that a Guevera had.
Really deep down they want to be totalitarian thugs who can tell others what they can and cannot do, they crave it like a meth addict. They believe that their view of the world and what ought to be done is the only 'right' one and when someone believes that with their level of fervor, the ends justifies the means, no matter how brutal, no matter how ugly.
Not hard at all to understand really.

I think left-leaning non-politicians, such as Hollywood types and college students, look at Che (and maybe Castro) as a promoter of the little guy, a freedom fighter for "the people." They have no idea of his savage, brutal, totalitarian real history.

I was being a bit facetious as I know they crave power ultimately. They even glorify, murderers, rapists, torturers, and thieves. The best cigars by far come from Nicaragua, by the way, not from Cuba.

He did indeed bring a lot of social equality to Cuba. He made them all poor.

When events contradict their positions, they can't process it.
So they claim events have to be rearranged, so their constructs can remain intact.
Because they can't seem to survive without their constructs, when the constructs are challenged, they become hostile, leave the room, or make false accusations about and demonize the person trying to talk with them. These actions preserve their bubble of happy horseshit assumptions.
The constructs must survive for the left to survive.

I think it is important to remember that of all the millions of internet posts, Facebook posts and tweets about him, none of them come from the Cuban people. That is because they live in poverty because of his policies and fear because of his brutality. While his impact on international politics cannot be denied, his impact on the Cuban people cannot be celebrated.

That is true. Maybe because on top of being female, they are mostly (notice I said "mostly") leftist liberals. I don't know if that is cause or effect.

The finally locked my Castro thread on PoA. I'm not sure why as no reason was given. I guess they didn't like pushing back on the fact that folks don't choose Communism, that it is chosen for them.
