What was this guy thinking? Night, MVFR/IMC, hot weather, full load, mountains, fog, not inst rated, low time. Maybe we should toss in some acro to make it juuuuuuuust a bit more interesting.
It doesn't bother me when they kill themselves, but taking the family along with them is - shameful.

Wow, that is really sad. I was based in Colorado with my Tiger, and learned a healthy respect for mountain flying. I kept to good weather, light winds, daylight, and well under gross. It's been HOT is CO the past few weeks also. Unseasonably hot. Thoughts, and prayers for the family.

Reminds me that I haven't read any NTSB reports in quite awhile.

Stupid kills - both often not enough to help, and frequently the wrong ones.

Agreed. A similar story took place here in Watsonville not too long ago, where a pilot did just about everything possible to assure the destruction of himself and his family.

I have always been very conservative with all the factors involved in a safe flight. Because, first and foremost, I don't want to neither scare my passengers, nor be the cause of their deaths. Plus, I don't want to kill myself either, but If I did, alone, I'd have no one to blame but myself.
