Title: Cohen and Attorney-Client Privilege
Post by: nddons on December 14, 2018, 01:19:02 PM
Legal Beagles and others who stayed at the Holiday Inn Express last night:

Can Trump sue Cohen for breach of privilege for opening up his yap about things he’s talking about in public?  I’m not talking about things he was compelled to disclose in court, but for what he is saying now after pleading guilty.

 Suing him could be tricky.

But, certainly, the President could file a complaint with the Bar (NY Bar) and get Cohen disbarred for unethical behavior.  And, IMO he should be disbarred.

Plus, Cohen is an idiot.  He pleaded to two items that aren't even crimes.  Apparently Mueller demanded the plea to prop up his campaign against the President, but it's absolutely foolish to plead guilty to something that isn't a crime.

I plead guilty to loving my wife.

That isn't a crime, but sometimes when she spouts her liberal bullshit, I think it should be.

But I love her anyway.

I think Cohen's disbarment is a foregone conclusion.  If the felony conviction isn't enough, New York is probably going to disbar him because he worked for Trump.

But they doesn’t invalidate the confidentiality rules, does it?

 Not necessarily.

Bar associations for each state are just that, lawyer associations.  They are not a part of government.  They govern themselves and their members.

There are many attorneys that have committed crimes and other misdeeds that still have a law license.  If you think the local ambulance chasing shyster lawyer is a lowlife, go take a look at his Bar Association that admitted him.
