Of all the climate skeptics, Curry is the one I respect the most. Most of the commenters on her blog are outright AGW deniers, but Curry does NOT take that position as she is well aware that humans contribute to global warming. She is (IMO rightly) skeptical about the degree of human contribution and the degree of confidence about it, and she (again, IMO rightly) calls out the media and climatologists whenever they overstate their case. I doubt I'll have a chance to read that whole report this break as it is LONG, but I hope to at least read the executive summary over the weekend.
Georgia Tech lost a real gem when Curry resigned. Reports I read at the time said she was forced or strongly pressured to go because of her outspoken stance against climate activism. I'm not sure how accurate the reports were but it's clear from her own statements that there was pressure. Cases like hers give me pause every time I cover the greenhouse effect and climate change in the gen-ed astronomy course I teach. Being a gen-ed course, understanding the scientific method and the role of uncertainty in measurement is one of the most important outcomes in the rubric, and I always take the opportunity to emphasize the uncertainties in things like the equilibrium climate sensitivity, which ranges over a factor of at least 4. I usually mention in passing that as a result, the target GHG levels needed to keep mean AGW below 2 C have enormous error bars. I'm sure the day will come when someone will take me aside and order me to stop questioning the consensus in my classroom or else, but until then, I'm going to keep on speaking the truth as I see it.

It is poor form to proverbially place words in a person's mouth and then attack them for those words.
So how about letting him post first if he has anything to say on this thread, OK? Otherwise if you think that is a valid way to attack someone and keep doing it, you may become the unhappy recipient of the same kind of attack.

Lighten up, Francis. You may have missed the performances of the professor when it comes to anthropomorphic climate change, but he’s quite capable of derision and ridicule of anyone, including most people on this site, who don’t toe the party line when it comes to the profitable business combination of scientists and politicians.
