Title: Kitfox

Anyone with any experience with the various Kitfox models?

They seem a little compact, but for low slow door open type flying might be fun.

Not directly, but several friends have or have built them.

My impression is a solid, nice weather, go slow, door open J-3 type plane.

The prices seem right on them.  I have little experience with the Rotax engines, but they don't look to difficult.

We use the Rotax engines with our RV-12’s.  They are really nice engines.  I was a bit learry of them initially, but they have turned out to be great engines.

I flew the Kit Fox for a couple of years and loved how easy they are to handle. It can get a little bumpy landing in a crosswind, but you can most often turn to meet the wind and still stop before you run out of runway.

They don't burn much fuel - something like 5 gallons an hour. It could even be less, but it's been a while.

Haven’t had the good luck to fly one, but they’ve been around for awhile, so I suspect the kinks have been all worked out. I’ve seen a bunch, looked snug if you were on the large side. To be honest, I haven’t ever heard a bad word about them, which is saying something in aviation.

Can’t think of too many airplanes that you can fly low and slow with the doors off that aren’t a hoot.
