That means job postings still exceed the number of unemployed people in the U.S. by about 800,000 (there are about 6.35 million unemployed people in the U.S.
So tell me again why so many people can't find work?  Maybe those are the "unwilling" that Sandy wants to pay off.

So tell me again why so many people can't find work?  Maybe those are the "unwilling" that Sandy wants to pay off.

People are unwilling and/or unable to adjust to the skills needed for the available jobs or are stuck living in a place where their skills are not.  While a strong job market does indicate a strong and growing economy, it's highly dependent on finding the right person with the right skills in the right place.  For those willing to reskill to what's in demand or are highly (or even moderately) mobile, they can write their own ticket.  I think that unwilling to work also includes unwilling to do what it takes to get work.

I disagree with the "lack of effective job training programs" below.  There are plenty of effective job training programs.  What there's a lack of is snowflake willingness to put in the effort to do it.

From CNN:
Quote
What the numbers illustrate is one of the key problems that has plagued the U.S. labor market in recent years. Job seekers tend to lack the skills in demand, they're not willing to move to jobs that are available, or employers have unrealistic expectations.

The U.S. has also long struggled with a job skills gap, which is a result of an aging workforce, the rapid pace of automation, and a lack of effective job training programs.

It also depends on location and the type of job. In April, there were 2.1 million open jobs in the Southeast United States, the most of any region. The Northeast, the most densely populated, had the fewest number of job openings, 1.2 million.

I see a lot of unrealistic expectations in my IT realm, mainly because foreign workers have dragged the market to the bottom. Employers want 15 years of experience, you will move to the job city at your own expense, and work as a contractor for $40/hr paying your own benefits.  They cannot get that and wind up taking someone who can just barely spell IT with oredictable results.

Realistically, this situation ought to be 150-175/hr.

In who's reality is $312,000 -$364,000 expected.

But I do agree with the rest of your post.

In my area, the jobs are going to INDIANS.  They are flooding the suburbs here.  Entire developments are now Indian.

It seems when you have such a huge imbalance with the purchasing power of the dollar after exchange rates with poor countries, combined with allowing immigration into the rich countries (legal or illegal) from those poor countries, this becomes a big problem. The immigrants are willing to work for far lower dollars because they can send them back home where they have greatly magnified purchasing power. This drags down wages and salaries and results in displacement of the native born citizens of the target country. One real good reason immigration needs to be limited.

On the other hand, rich countries are voluntarily having too few children. Lack of young people is a very big problem destined to become a crisis, especially with a socialist “social security” program where fewer and fewer young are sucked dry to support way too many retirees who live longer than ever thanks to advances in medicine. Even without social security there is the problem of taking care of our elders. The economy needs young working people and if we aren’t breeding them we need to import them. Trump was correct in his SOTU speech when he said “we want lots of immigrants”.

But the wage drag is a reality. In time as countries rise out of poverty and with globalization, in theory the money should equalize... but only in theory. It would require everyone acting like a free market. As we know most countries stupidly don’t. Free market is considered “evil capitalism” and all sorts of artificial meddling and controls are imposed on every side. The fewer you impose the richer your country becomes and the greater the disparity.

Socialists, communists, and Democrats all would drag the rich countries down to equalize with the poor (except their own personal wallets). The correct answer would be for the poor countries to rise to the level of the rich through the same process the U.S. did - Freedom: A free market economy.

Most of the bullshit about income inequity is pushed by people with zero economic credibility.

People are not poorer than year ago. They are FAR richer.

Young and middle age Americans SPEND too much. It's that simple.

I would no more buy a one-thousand-two-hundred dollar phone, than I would volunteer to help occasio-cortez pay the rent on her LUXURY apartment.

As for cars, TV's, boats, mortgages, credit card debt, cable packages and on and on and on, people spend more than they should and then blame us when they run out of money to pay for necessities.

Yep.

Sounds just like every stupid liberal, snowflake, Trump hating, mmgw warming lying, idiot.

Hot skill job. Companies hire consultants to do this at 200-300 per hour, but they want the same people as individuals at $40/hr.  When you pay below bottom prices, you get below bottom people.
