The United States military has conducted a special operations raid targeting one of its most high-value targets, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State militant group (ISIS), Newsweek has learned. Donald Trump approved the mission nearly a week before it took place.
Amid reports Saturday of U.S. military helicopters over Syria's northwestern Idlib province, a senior Pentagon official familiar with the operation and Army official briefed on the matter told Newsweek that Baghdadi was the target of the top-secret operation in the last bastion of the country's Islamist-dominated opposition, a faction that has clashed with ISIS in recent years. A U.S. Army source briefed on the results of the operation told Newsweek that Baghdadi was killed in the raid. And the Defense Department told the White House they have "high confidence" that the high-value target killed was Baghdadi but further verification is pending."
So how long before the dims will be in outrage over this?

They will probably say that Obama put the planning for this into play and Trump is just trying to steal the glory.
Or they will say that Trump put American's lives at stake in a risky mission.

CNN will come along and portray al-Baghdadi as a "misunderstood" "freedom fighter".
-
I can't wait for the CNN, NBC, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, PBS, NYT, Washpo, AP, Reuters SPIN on this one.

Love that video.
In the video he said:
"WE were in the compound for hours" and "We took evidence and documents".
The msnbcnnwaponytnypost et al will surely criticize him for pretending he was actually part of the raid.

Of course. BHO took all the credit for the OBL raid and the MSM praised him.

In the video he said he watched most of it. I'm sure the SF guys were filming and streaming it directly to the WH, like they did with Obama.
Now, I am waiting to see who was in the audience in the WH and to see if there were any women watching and if they get photoshopped out like they did with HRC in order not to offend Muslims?
I sort of doubt that will happen this time.
-
I'm sure a "whistleblower" who had a friend that knew someone's cousin's uncle who was there will come out and say the President broke the law.
Schiff is writing the complaint right now.

I"m a little surprised that CNN actually gave a fairly honest account of the raid.
https://www.cnn.com/2019/10/27/politics/isis-abu-bakr-al-baghdadi-operation-donald-trump/index.html
Including this little snippet:
Trump said it was a "very dangerous mission," regarding flying in and flying out. He thanked Russia, Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Syrian Kurds for helping in the mission.

I'm waiting to hear @bFlynn's opinion on this. I believe he will be fair, but still want to hear how he words it.
Does this forum software give us the ability to notify someone when their name is used in a post?

Not that I’m aware. I believe you can follow threads though.

It might but I'm not getting notices like that.
In general this is positive news as it temporarily sets them back a little. I'm sure that an organization such as theirs already has someone else stepping into control. I wish there were a way to do this without death, but they don't seem to want to cooperate with that, so we have to play at their level.
Is anyone shocked that ISIS is still an organization? Shouldn't they all be dead and defeated?

Too funny! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!

And....
-
I was afraid this was going to turn out to be a case of mistaken identity, but since it's been confirmed, credit where credit is due: Trump took the responsibility for something big, gave the green light, restrained himself from tweeting about it prematurely, and the mission was successful. Kudos to him and to the people in uniform who put their lives on the line.

Good on Trump, that dude was bad news.

I will say the same thing about Trump that I said about Obama when US military killed bin laden. He made a no brainer executive decision from the safe confines of DC. All of the actual work and all of the risk was by others. It pissed me off when all of the Obama supporters praised him and it pisses me off now that all of the Trump supporters praise him. Neither did squat.

So you would rather have a military operating sans a CIC?

Interestingly enough almost the entire Seal Team Six that pulled off the execution of Osama, under the Obama Admin died in a helicopter crash. That's not going to happen to Trump's guys. I wonder why?

One, if you are talking about the same helicopter crash that I think you are, while many members of SEAL Team 6 were killed, none of them had participated in the bin laden mission.
Two, Trump's guys? LMFAO!

But then again, do you remember that Biden was recommending AGAINST the Bin Laden operation? Apparently he thought the risks were too great for the reward. That was the one decision that I really gave Obama credit for, and I hated the man most of the time.
