Title: Good morning
Post by: Becky (My pronouns are Assigned/By/God) on January 14, 2020, 08:16:50 AM
Where is everyone? Have y’all gone over to that other board? I need to know because it’s 2020, dear people, and without active discussion with you, I’m not going to make it to Election Day with my sanity intact.

Thank you.

Becky

It has been pretty quiet the past few days.  People are looking but not talking.  Your post had 4 views in the past hour so we are here.

Low clouds and cold for the past few days and the hangar is snowed in.  I got the winter blues, I guess.

I’m acting like a liberal and seeking my safe space.

It gets frustrating when it seems people are ready to pounce on anything you say. Even people that you think of internet friends.

Stan replied to you basically the same thing I was thinking when I read your post. I didn’t tease out what you were getting at. I’m guilty of reading but not replying.  :(

Still here Becky, but it is tax season, so my ability to jump in is a little more limited. Plus I’ve been working on purchasing a Navion.

Keep it up!  I’m not going to mess with that new site.

Jesus.

Really Joe?

Not going to criticize Joe. He’s married to a liberal and has to walk a fine line. Sanctuary just means you can talk about anything, not that you’ll be understood fully or agreed with.

However, the rumblings are that 2020 is the year we become unsilent.

POTUS is giving us the example. “Mini Mike” for Bloomberg.  8)

Seriously?  Was it something I said, because I have nothing but the utmost respect for you and your opinion.

Last week I put everything I wanted to say on the subject of politics into a snail mail to POTUS. Now trying to get some real life stuff done.

I'm here, I've stopped going to the other two boards. Just here and the Purple Board now.

I am here.  Retirement keeps me busy but I always make time for y'all.

I am getting tired of all the Steyer and Bloomberg commercials.

Physical mail can take a long time to reach anyone's eyes because of security concerns. Best to use fax.

I knew they'd check for anthrax and ricin and whatnot.  I figured on a few weeks.  More than a few months will be a problem.

Closed on new house in Ohio today, move the wife and kid in tomorrow, then back to Wisconsin until house there sells, and work things get straightened out.

Congratulations - buying and selling houses is a lot of work even when you don’t include packing and moving and unpacking and making sure everybody has your new address and so on and so forth.

(We started house hunting last week.)

Not all our crap wouldn't fit in the van. Uhaul won't rent trucks over 20 feet for one way out of state moves anymore. So we still have a bunch of crap in Wisconsin, good thing we have another month in the house. And Ohio is messed up. After you close, you have to wait until the deed is filed before you get the keys. So now we fingers are crossed it's taken care of tomorrow morning because we have movers coming at 1 and have to return the truck tomorrow afternoon.

The two houses I bought, I got the keys as soon as we closed.  I planned pretty far ahead on the second one, since I had a moving truck inbound.  Ohio is a big place. Whereabouts are you situating?

Funny story, I bought my house from a Veterinary Pathologist.  We went to a party at a friends house who later became Chair of the Veterinary Biosciences Department.  All the postdocs were talking about my house and my neighbors.  Kinda funny.

You can all start now about telling me how bad I am.  It's OK.

In Wisconsin we got the keys right after we signed the papers. We bought in Huron, my home town. Technically we are in the township. We should have the keys in an hour, so that works with our time crunch.

Nice area.  Not a lot of airstrips around, other than 88D.  Never landed there, my Mooney is allergic to little turf strips.  Good luck with the move.  Hope its the last one for awhile.  I hate moving.

Isn’t there an airport in nearby Sandusky?  I took my first airplane ride on an Island Airways Ford Tri-Motor to Put-in-Bay.

Anyway, congrats Josh. However, with your departure I understand Miller is going to have to cut their beer production by 15%. Thanks a lot.

5A1 and S24 are the nearest I see other than 88D.  PCW is also in the mix.  They all look like a bit of a drive to me.  I'm not that familiar with the area from the ground (fly over it all the time).  S24 tends to have cheap gas.

While I think Josh lived not too far from Lake Michigan, I suspect his new home will redefine “lake effect snow.”

Maybe, not certain.  You get the worst on the windward side of the Lake, less so on the lee side.  That's why Cleveland gets hammered while Toledo doesn't get it as badly.  Don't know where Huron fits into the mix.  What I do know if lake breezes should keep it nice and pleasantly cool in the summer.  Gets too damn hot where I live.

Roger that. A few years ago I worked out of our Cleveland office, but had to go up to Ashtabula to meet with a client. WOW. Quite a difference. Ashtabula got nailed with snow. Good thing National car rental gave me a very nice upgrade to a large size rear wheel drive car.

Sandusky closed a few years ago and moved all their operations to Port Clinton. I took my first lessons there. It's now a sports complex. Never did like Miller products. Tastes dirty to me.

Yep. Huron is on the most southern shoreline of Lake Erie. The large snowfalls seem to skip us to the north and hit east. Definitely got more lake effect in Port Washington.

I believe we stopped there once on our way to OshKosh many many moons ago.

I believe S24 is Sandusky county. Its a bit farther away, has a gigantic 5k asphalt strip in really nice condition, and like I said, cheap gas.
