The human race, and the planet need and are due for a really good pandemic. We need to cull the heard of the weak. And we could fix climate change by reducing the number of polluters. China is a great place for it to start.

Agreed. The good thing is that pandemics will affect people in densely populated cities first. Disease from the breakdown of infrastructure will take care of what the Kung Flu doesn't. Then just bleach the cities from the air and we're back in business.

The reports that this is a MANUFACTURED virus seemed to dry up very fast, and the number of confirmed cases is still being reduced by about 90%, if not more.

What I read was the virus actually came from serpents based on genomic sequence data. Hard to believe a bug could make a jump like that, but data doesn't lie.
I really do think it horrifying that there are people here rooting for a deadly pathogen to kill people. All the viruses' victims were someone's son, someone's daughter, someone's parent or grandparent. They all had people who loved them and who now have a hole in their life.

Everybody dies eventually. Your beef is just with the timing. And why does an atheist that is all for killing fetuses care so much? If the pandemic were to take out whole families so that nobody is left to miss the deceased, would that be ok with you?

Scientists from the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention said tests proved humans caught it from animals at the Huanan Seafood Wholesales Market.
It is not clear which animal was carrying the pneumonia-like illness but the market was home to stalls trading dozens of different species, including rats and wolf cubs.
Last week experts suggested the disease may have originated in snakes, which are known carriers of coronaviruses. The Huanan market was a hotspot with locals, who could choose to buy their meat 'warm' meaning it had been slaughtered just moment prior.
