Title: Airlines and the Covid19
Post by: Lucifer on March 25, 2020, 12:11:34 PM

It's starting to look like several airlines will be reorganizing and restructuring in the aftermath of all this.

I suspect major downsizing, eliminate non profitable routes and get rid of older airframes.   The airlines are already going into contract concession modes.

I just got a notice from American that they will no longer serve you anything on flights under 4 hours, unless you maybe beg them for a sip of water.  Also they’ve “relaxed their seating policy”, whatever that means.

I see some airlines adopting the Southwest boarding model.

Yep, copy success.  Cut out snacks and drinks, or reduce to just a small tiny cup.  Open boarding, quick turns.   Also reduce fleet types to reduce training cost.

But you can still buy food right? It sounds like American is cutting out that option too.
