Title: How interesting
Post by: President-Elect Bob Noel on May 18, 2020, 05:10:04 AM
In '68-'69, the Hong Kong flu pandemic killed about 1 million people world-wide and about 100,000 people in the US (source:  CDC)

Now, the COVID-19 pandemic has killed about 317,000 people world-wide and about 91,000 people in the US (source:  worldometer)

Oh but don’t you know it was all the social distancing that reduced the deaths, otherwise we would have 2.2 million by now. That’s a scientific fact, because unproven models with randomly variable parameters said so. Also we can now consider social distancing a proven scientific fact because when you do an experiment of this scale with no control group and a lot of confirmation bias, and using data suffering from many corrupting influences, we can absolutely rely on bureaucrats with a desperate political agenda to tell us the truth when they state, as fact, that it is social distancing, not herd immunity nor warm weather that is responsible for the drop off in deaths and the failure of Covid19 to kill 2.2 million people yet, because you just wait, come fall all hell will break loose, and we are all gonna die! That’s why we need to continue the shutdown through November 3, 2020 after which new data will inform whether or not we can reopen.

sometimes it's more fun to be completely sarcastic but believable rather than obviously sarcastic.

It's just that people CARE more about human life today.  It's not because an overly aggressive bureaucracy using the Internet, Media, Social Media, Education, Entertainment, Government and Corporations is trying to condition people to be compliant, submissive and dependent on them.  They just care about all of our well being.

Yes, and you can be so extremely sarcastic that you circle back around to people thinking you are serious, and, maybe you are? Who knows?  ;D

If those numbers are correct, it looks like the US is doing much worse this time around.  The US accounted for 10 percent of the Hong Kong flu victims, but over 28 percent of the C19 victims.

Ah, there's the key!  If those numbers are correct.  This time around there's a huge incentive to inflate the numbers.

Quote
James Madison once said, “A popular Government, without popular information, or the means of acquiring it, is but a Prologue to a Farce or a Tragedy; or, perhaps both.” The coronavirus fascists have succeeded in cementing their illogical, immoral, and illegal policies through the prism of false information about the timing of the virus, the specific nature and severity of the overall fatality rate, the number of actual deaths, and the utility (or perhaps harm) of lockdown policies in actually mitigating deaths – all the while obfuscating the much higher collateral deaths and damage caused by the lockdown itself.

Every day we learn new information demonstrating the lies driving lockdown. Here are some of the most important ones from over the weekend.

There are so many confounding factors. Are we even getting realistic numbers from places like Africa, India, Russia?  And you have to consider the populations, and you have to consider the health condition. You have to consider the living densities. Steingar does have a point that Americans are much less healthy than say, Japanese. It is virtually meaningless to compare these raw numbers. And that doesn't even count the political bias involved, possibly on both sides. It may be a generation before we can draw conclusions from such comparisons, if even then.

COVID19 is about 10 times as infective and possibly ten times as deadly than Influenza.  The folks who worry about these things aren't worried about the deaths, as bad as they are.  They're worried about crippling our medical facilities.  And they're right to do so.  You'll see what that looks like this Fall, I suspect.

and

(https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/2018-2019.html)  According to the CDC, the 2018-2019 flu had over 34 million cases of the flu in the US.  That's a little over 10% of the population.  If COVID-19 is just 10 times as infectious as the flu, then ....hmmmm.

btw - Are you ever going to answer the questions regarding how long it should take to develop a serological test?

Don't believe your made up assertions.  The FACT is that the hospitals are largely EMPTY and have been the entire time this phony pandemic has been going on.  The medical facilities were not crippled, in fact they are so not crippled the fact you say that exhibits your total lack of credibility.

Wearing a mask is purely a public relations, feel good move by government and the MEDIA to make people think:

A.  They are doing something

B.  That things are so bad we all have to go around wearing ineffective masks

Nothing will happen this Fall.  This was a big NOTHING.  The only thing this did is to guarantee TRUMP WILL WIN by larger margins.

Well, here in Massachusetts, hospitals are not empty, just underutilized at the moment.  I think it was Mass General (or some other major Boston hospital) had something like 150 beds used by COVID-19 patients and some 400 bed being used by other patients.

But I would say that a lot of medical facilities are indeed feeling the crunch... they've lost a lot of revenue because people were staying away from hospitals out of fear of COVID-19.  All the panic being incited kind of backfired on portions of the medical industry.

People in nyc and other self obsessed urbanites have no clue. They account for a huge proportion of cases while hospitals out in “flyover country” are EMPTY. And face bankruptcy. We had had all of FOUR covid19 cases at our local hospital as of a couple weeks ago when my doctor told me that, yet they cleared the whole place out for a flood of cases that never came AND NEVER WILL, and now the healthcare facilities around here are crashing financially, as are all sorts of other businesses.

You people in the cities have NO CLUE. You are imposing your paradigm on the rest of us and while you have 90% of all the cases, we are 90% of all counties.

Densely populated cities are where pandemics began, YOU (not you Bob :))) invented them, 10,000 years ago when with agriculture man settled into cities, and densely populated areas are still YOUR bane, not ours, and now your media and your politicians are imposing your hysteria fueled rules on the rest of us who not only don’t need them, they are DESTROYING us.

NO NO NO NO!!!!  :-[  Not directed at you at all.  I was agreeing with your comment about medical facilities losing revenue.  "You" was directed at people who live in cities AND who stupidly are oblivious to the fact that the rest of the country isn't like them. Not you at all. If you live in a city, you obviously are not one who stupidly doesn't see that small town hospitals are hurting, so not you at all.

There I fixed it. My apologies, I never meant that to seem directed at you.

The political spectrum is best depicted on a Mobius Strip, so if you move far enough left or right you end up far right or left, respectively, but your ethical philosophy becomes inverted.
