Legislation exploring whether Black Americans should receive restitution for slavery may soon get a huge boost, as a growing number of Democrats are hoping to move reparations this summer as another response to the death of George Floyd.
Members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) will huddle Wednesday to discuss their next legislative steps as Democrats seek to confront racial inequality following the police killing of Floyd last month.
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas), the lead sponsor of the reparations bill, H.R. 40, said her proposal is attracting greater interest within the caucus since Floyd's death, which sparked mass protests for racial justice around the country and the globe. She's hoping to tap that energy to bring her bill to the floor for a historic vote before year's end.
"We now have an opportunity, through H.R. 40, to have the highest level of discussion about systemic racism and race. And we are able to do it in a manner that is bringing people together; that acknowledges that Black lives matter; and acknowledges that there has to be a response," Jackson Lee said Tuesday.
"There is no better time for H.R. 40 to be part of the national dialogue, and part of the national legislative response."
Since Floyd's death on May 25, House Democrats have already approved several proposals designed to tackle racial disparities and social injustice across different facets of American society, including legislation to overhaul the criminal justice system and expand access to health care.
Party leaders have also scheduled a vote this week on a sweeping infrastructure package, which includes provisions aimed at boosting both the economy and access to services in poor, minority and other vulnerable communities.

With the Media, Democrat Party, Entertainment, Education and Corporate America currently pushing Marxist BLM they have the best shot of getting something through now. I am guessing they want some type of UBI (annual or monthly payments) for Blacks that would continue on like Welfare payments, meaning ad infinitum.

Good point. And NOTHING they do will stop the Media and Democrats from continuing that mantra. They could sign on for everything BLM wants and it will never be enough. Never.

Honest question how much is a person/slave life worth?
Lets say $1M, Ok so each slave will get get $1M. Since I do not believe anyone that was a slave 150 years ago is still alive, the money will have to go into probate. For my family to find someone born before 1865 I have to go back to my Great-Great Grand parents. That is 4 generations back, plus I have grand kids. So to divide that money up between all those people. Now how much money is everyone going to get.
Ok we all know this is not how it would happen we will just give all black people money.

That's why I think it won't be a one time payment but an annual "stipend" like the UBI they want. It will be continuous payments. Essentially Welfare without having to show need,

It's the pathway to universal income. Once it's started with one group, it will never end and then be expanded to cover others.

That's the plan. This is an election year, and the dems have completely blown it by putting up an old man in mental decline. Now the plan is to constant bang on a drum, scream and create chaos everywhere. This comes from military planning, when they want to take down something, start a covert action which develops chaos for the citizens. Loud music, disinformation, riots, protesting, it all has an effect on the locals. It's done to demoralize the population. And with so much chaos going on it becomes impossible to differentiate truth from fiction.
We are under attack. And what's disheartening is we are under attack by probably less than 2% of the population. But just look at how our elected leaders are surrendering and waving white flags.
This insurrection could be put down rather swiftly, but elected officials are looking the other way and in many ways enabling the behavior.
This is only the first of July. Four more months until the election. We haven't seen the full brunt of this yet.
