Title: Were people forced to reopen businesses and go out?
Post by: President-Elect Bob Noel on July 11, 2020, 01:41:35 PM
All this talk about this person or that person is at fault for rising cases and secondary spikes.

Riddle me this:  Exactly who forced anyone to reopen businesses and facilities?  Exactly who is forcing anyone to leave the comfort of their own home?

If you don't feel safe, then stay home

If you don't feel safe, then wear a mask

If you don't feel safe, then practice proper hygiene.

If you don't feel safe, then stay away from other people

(I was somewhat amused this morning at the post office.  I had a mask, the service rep behind the counter (and a plexiglass shield) had a mask, but she told me to stay behind the yellow line, iow - at least six feet from her).

Masks aren't perfect.  Maintaining a little extra distance can help avoid the virus's that escape the masks.  And how much does that cost you?  Nothing!

As to the rest of your post, even if I lock myself in a bubble and install an airlock for Uber Eats to place the food, the more people that contract the disease can still cause it to spread to loved ones.

Perhaps you are not bombarded with santimonious edicts about "wear a mask if you can't social distance" (that's an exact quote I've heard over and over and over from the gov of Maskachusetts) - perhaps people are being dishonest about the value of the mask, perhaps people don't understand what a mask provides.

If you locked yourself in a bubble with an airlock (and I assume the airlock would provide proper filtering and sterlization), how do you think a pathogen would get you?

But you didn't answer the questions.

What a pathetic, scared of our own shadow society we've become.  No, I am not talking about anyone here.

Since this began, my wife and I have tried to live our live as normal as possible. During the first several weeks we took of on Fridays to visit state parks. We stopped at several convenience stores on those trips not wearing a mask. We did our grocery shopping our local stores, Publix and Aldi mostly and occasionally at Kroger, again no masks. As Georgia began to open we were one of the first to dine-in at a Longhorn Steakhouse. Since then we've eaten out at least once a week for dinner and several times for breakfast. During this time we've made several trips to Costco, Walmart and Home Desperate. Only wore a mask at Costco because they wouldn't let us in the door without one. We've been to several medical facilities where masks were required. I've taken my wife to urgent care twice where I got to sit in the car. I've had her to PT for her balance issues and we are required to wear masks there.

I've learn to use common sense. When walking through stores I tend to keep my hands in my pockets so as to not make contact with others. When passing someone in an aisle I give them a wide berth. We've done well to this point (knock on wood) and I suspect if we continue to use our common sense we will still do well.
This past Tuesday I held a meeting at the airport with parent and youth that were participating in our youth program. We are starting back up and had made some changes to it and had new paperwork for parents and youth to sign. I had several of the mentors there and somewhere around twenty others. I advertised that the meeting was masks optional at their discretion. Most came in with them on and one or tow took them off for the meeting. We can accommodate ninety-six in the space so we could easily space out.

This morning we had our first session with the youth. I had nine youth and eight mentors in attendance. Again masks were optional and the majority chose to wear masks. I took everyone's temperature as they came in, no one was above 97.8. Everything went well. The airport is in Gwinnett County, the hottest spot in Georgia currently.  The four hot counties are all blue. I'm a couple of counties to the NE, were the rednecks live ;)

I just received my Trump 2020 masks Friday. Will try them at some point.  Our church has begun meeting again on our building. I am not attending as masks are required, I can watch online.
