I've seen some remarks from Mari on FB that run counter to what we really think about her. Not saying she will put on a MAGA hat, but her eyes appear to be open.

I think they went way liberal way before that.  But it didn't become so visible until they scratched the SZ.

update:  the POA MC voted to permanently close the thread on Coronavirus memes.  Closing a thread because of thread drift?  oh the horror!

The POA MC is quite the bunch of, well, words fail me.

LOL - it was closed and then re-opened.  And now closed again.

the MC claims "some can't handle discussing a mature subject" ... in reality, the MC reveals that they can't handle it.

Well this is why we exist.   However, it seems many at poa are too afraid of real discussion and being held accountable for their views.

I have not bothered to look at the PoA thread, but presume by its URL it is about sexism in aviation.
In years past there were threads on sexism in aviation on PoA (so it is hardly a new subject there - just like high wing vs low wing) and I recall they were generally thoughtful discussions and never devolved into anything crude or juvenile. Whichever moderator(s) closed the thread are pretty much clueless of that history and patronizing - precisely the wrong personality traits for a moderator.

Which thread was that?

Not the one where everyone responded "Yes, sexism exists in the world", right?

Not going to go to PoA to research those threads, but I do recall posting that sexism was not a valid explanation for women making up less than about 10% of the pilot population (IIRC). A similar discrepancy exists in ham radio, but attainment of a ham radio license generally doesn’t require social interaction during the learning phase. It’s all a matter of personal desires and goals.

Exactly!

I’m a CPA and my industry is falling all over itself for gender and now particularly race “inclusion.”  In a CPA publication I just received today, three articles are:

Intentionality and inclusion:  Keys to diversity.

The push for racial diversity.

Unconscious bias.

While all that sounds “woke,” the question is how many black minority students do you see getting an accounting degree in colleges and universities?  Not many. It a rigorous major - not as tough as some like the sciences, but tougher than most, and highly technical.

These racism and sexism policies always ignore the reality that people self select their careers. That’s what’s responsible for most of the discrepancies.

And when these social engineers are faced with that fact, then you have to listen to “how can we get more (fill in the blank) to be interested in (whatever career)?”   As if people can’t figure out for themselves what they want to do. That was an issue in the past, yes, they were discouraged from certain careers, but not these days. Now it’s just used as one more tool to shame majority culture within whatever profession. It works in reverse too, not only must we get more women doctors, we must get more male nurses. That’s what betrays the real agenda: it’s not to uplift minorities at all, it is to equalize outcome. We must encourage more males to take low relative salaries of nursing instead of the wealth and prestige of doctoring. Funny I don’t see a big movement to get more women to be garbage collectors, probably the most sexist of all jobs.

Without going over there and checking, I'm going to guess that someone may have tried to give Trump credit for speeding up vaccine development.

They usually delete the offending post(s) as part of closing it, so you never really know why they closed it.

I knew a lot of women who were garbage collectors when I was dating.  Most of them dropped me to go onto a bigger bag of garbage.

It's been going on since at least the '90s: The husband/father who couldn't figure out the internet only to find out that his wife and/or children already figured it out for him, or the husband who couldn't figure out the taxes then cut to the wife calmly reading a magazine while sipping a latte while she gently tells him she already took care of it.  The next decade, again it's a stupid white male who has to be educated by a black male, and then by his kids.  During the Obama campaign, I became convinced that McDonalds was a black restaurant for black patrons only, and haven't set foot in one since.

You have complete diversity in advertising and entertainment with respect to race and sexual orientation. But all the characters are liberals and live on the east-west coast or are city dwellers. Any rural or conservative or Republican or Southerner is portrayed as an ignorant hillbilly, a white supremacist, a greedy rich bad guy, or used as a comedic punching bag (Archie Bunker).

I am always surprised when I come across pilots so brain dead that they believe what they hear on cnn.
That they think they have the right to decide what everyone else is allowed to discuss is just as ignorant, childish and pathetic.
Liberalism is a mental disorder.

Diversity of race, color, gender and sexual orientation etc, yet NO diversity of thought.   All radical, far leftists.

What?  You mean an aviation forum is not the place to run long winded threads about buses, bulldozers and other non aviation subjects?
