Title: State and Local Elections
Post by: jb1842 on September 08, 2020, 01:03:13 PM
So besides the Presidential election, how worried/concerned are you about you state local elections in November? My state rep is up this year. Republican incumbent is a lawyer and former chair of our county republican party and was chosen to fill the seat last year from the retiring rep. The challenger is a community activist who has only worked in nonprofits or as an aide to other politicians. I'm voting republican, but his big problem is getting out his message to the voters. Hell, he lives 4 houses down from me, and I've never even met him. I would probably volunteer on his campaign. Is this just a fluke, or does everyone else not know what their local reps are running for on election day?

Not overly concerned in Wisconsin. Our worthless governor isn’t up for two years, and neither US senator is up for election. Of course it’s critical to maintain the state legislature in Republican hands for drawing districts after the census.

What worries me most is some well meaning but short-sighted conservatives are trying to get enough signatures to recall governor Evers.

The recall could energize Democrats just like the Walker recall energized Republicans, and we gave walker more votes in his recall election and the subsequent election than he received the first time he ran for governor.

And this in a year where democrats are struggling to gain an ounce of enthusiasm for Biden. I predict democrats will be very unenthused unless this recall takes place.

Politicians live on voter apathy.

Get elected and voters will just re-elect on name recognition only.  Most people have absolutely no idea on their local reps or how the guy/woman even votes on issues.   This is yet another reason so much crap is out of control in this country.

I’m concerned Republicans have forgotten the lesson from 10 years ago. Whoever wins control of legislatures this time will draw the new congressional districts.

We talk about it here in Texas.

I think the county Republican chairs know about it and are working on it.

In PA voter apathy created a totally Democrat controlled Supreme Court and a very slim Republican majority in the legislature that will likely go Democrat.  The Governor is a far left, Democrat.  Also, last election cycle, my suburban County, formerly mainly Republican, went totally Democrat due to the large number of transplants moving here form more urban areas.  The Republicans essentially gave up, knowing the demographic changes.  Some incumbent Republican candidates on the Fed, State and Local levels just didn't run for reelection because they didn't want to lose.  Total cowards, and very embarrassing.

Vote her out.

Take her out is more like it. She is a threat to our country and a traitor.

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same;

I took this oath twice in my life. I still live by it.

Vince Flynn wrote a book about former special ops sharpshooters taking out slimy liberal congresspeople. It was very cathartic but of course unethical.

Tom Clancy had a more dramatic result, with a JAL pilot flying an empty 747 into a joint session of Congress.

Debt of Honor.

If you want to empty the chamber, just drag a dollar bill ....

I understand that Nolan Ryan once threw a dollar bill so fast that he snuck it past a congressman.
