Title: NFL Group-Think is What Killed Football
Post by: nddons on September 10, 2020, 09:54:39 PM
Shame on you, George McCaskey. Who the fuck are you to call a former Hall of Fame linebacker to the carpet for saying something not in line with the group-think that has choked the NFL to death. Go off yourself and let Brian Urlacher have his own opinion.

https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2908521-bears-chairman-i-thought-brian-urlachers-post-on-protests-was-result-of-hack.amp.html

I grew up a Bears fan. A high school classmate is a member of the McCaskey family and is in Bears management. But I am fucking done with all of it.

I'm waiting for the decline in TV ratings, jersey sales, ticket sales, etc., to be blamed on white people being racist.

That will probably be a Media theme, but the owners, teams and leagues will continue to blame the Virus and alternative media.

I’m sure that’s coming with the negative coverage of fans booing last night at some unity thug before the game.

The NFL, the prima donnas in costumes (a/k/a the players), and the media just don’t fucking get it.

Fans don’t hate unity. Fans want to watch football. That’s it. Play the game and shut the fuck up. We don’t want lectures.

As Laura Ingram said last year to the NBA, shut up and dribble.

Watched the Packers / Vikings yesterday.  Very surreal with an empty stadium and artificial fan noise.  Seems that they could have a little AI in there so when something happens on the field they could shift from standard noise to more exciting noise.  The cardboard cutouts behind the goalposts were just silly.  I thought I'd give it a try since it is, after all, the Packers.

I truly enjoyed yesterday. Went flying, took the labs for a 3.5 mile walk, and just hung out.

LAFter is good!  (LAF = Life After Football.)

Ironic, isn't it?  The entire purpose of BLM is to further divide us, not address any perceived "racial injustice".   The players are ego maniacs that get off on giving the middle finger to their fans and they expect them just to take it.  Some will, many won't.

There was a massive Trump boat parade in Green Bay yesterday DURING the Packers game. These pictures don’t do justice but I understand it was hundreds of boats.

As I said in another thread, for years now, I have avoided eating out, especially fast food and chain restaurants.  Both because I don't trust the people handling my food to wash their hands or worse, and the food is often unhealthy, overly processed and loaded with Sodium, fat, calories and other crap.  Plus, it is way more expensive than it should be.
 Ewwww.

Friends of mine, a married couple in their late forties, eat fast food, and pizza daily.  They are overweight, the wife sometimes has to go to the ER because she doesn't feel well, and they always try to put her on a diet, which she follows for a few days, and then back to the crap.  Neither of them do any exercise.  I worry about them.

You might not have to worry about them for long.

That's too bad.  When I want a fast not bad burger, Burger King is the place to go.  McD's was OK for a quick fillup of a known quantity and quality and get back on the road.  But once they went slow cooking to order it was off my list.  Don't want to wait for it to cook.  Started with changing the shakes from good to the fancy coffee whatever shit.  I don't know how they did it but now even McD's fries suck.

Sounds like the woman across the hall at work, she eats crap, no exercise, is quite portly, has terrible sleep problems, heart palpitations/issues, migraines, etc. Any talk of healthy living and she looks at me like I'm from mars...

It is apparently true.  Rolled out in Helsinki.  Link provided for completeness.  I expect it to spread to this country shortly.

We had one like that at my old office. In case of fire, she had to wait on the 7th floor to be evacuated. So fat she couldn't use the stairs. Fell once, and it took 6 people to pick her up. Died less than 6 months after she retired. Was a fucking c-nt to everybody.

I have no problem with ads depicting gay couples. I have a big problem with corporations sexualizing fictional mascots for the purpose of virtue signaling something that has nothing to do with their product. Such characters should remain asexual, unless you’re selling adult toys. I would be just as disgusted to see Ronald McDonald make out with a female.

Exactly.  The corporations have been convinced they have to support all this Far Left crap to be in vogue, especially with their younger (woke, hip, commie), key demographic.

The LOUD demographic.  And alienate 90% of their customer base.

The question remains how large the loud demographic actually is. If you believe the way they are presented, you would think half the country is part of that, with the rest of the country over 60 years old.

I believe the reality is that these loud mouth troublemakers are a fraction of 1% of Americans.

The corporations are going after the Millennials and Minorities.  That's why they've become so Woke.

Quote
Retail moves at the speed of culture, which means players sometimes quickly come and go. This speed is hastened by new technology and the group of shoppers using it the most – millennials.

The millennial generation is the largest in U.S. history and as they reach their prime working and spending years, their impact on the economy will be significant. Millennials have come of age during a time of technological change, globalization and economic disruption. These factors have given them a distinctly different set of behaviors and experiences.

This new generation is savvier and more educated. They turn to their handheld devices to meet all their needs. Whether it be hailing a ride through the Uber app or ordering a breakfast burrito through the Seamless app, technology is how they get things done. They are plugged into their devices and are disrupting traditional purchasing patterns.

I have no problem with them using their smart phones for information and news and keeping in touch.

But when they have to look up how many ounces in a cup or how many cups in a quart  or many of the other things that really need to be locked into their brain, then I have a bad feeling about their future.

The RELY on their phones for everything, including basic info you and I know off hand.  It is scary.  Their point is to not have to think.    :(
