Cloth masks will not protect you from wildfire smoke.

Cloth masks that are used to slow the spread of COVID-19 by blocking respiratory droplets offer little protection against wildfire smoke. They do not catch small, harmful particles in smoke that can harm your health.

Although N95 respirators do provide protection from wildfire smoke, they might be in short supply as frontline healthcare workers use them during the pandemic.

Good to know. I’ll bet that PSA only cost $5 million.

I find it interesting that smoke particles can get through a cloth mask, but yet somehow those pesky covids, which are many, many times smaller can be stopped.

Amazing!

Just going into the men’s room in my office after lunch proves to me that masks don’t work to protect me.

well, science.

The virus strands are transported in droplets.  So, it's not important to stop something the size of a virus strand (good luck with that) but rather stopping the droplets that have a virus payload.  Different animal (no pun) entirely.  Electrostatic helps.

So my breathing inside of that cloth covering, producing a nice warm humid environment, but that droplet containing the virus lands on the other side of the cloth, so I'm protected..............

Guess these folks don't get it.   All they would need is a cloth mask............such overkill!

different mechanisms

At one point you were referring to the size of the particle being stopped (or not).

I was pointing out that the size needed to be filtered is actually bigger than the size of a virus strand.

btw - you will never find me claiming that home-made masks are more than ever-so-slightly effective at slowing the transmission of covid-19.

All of this is opinion not much more. There has never been a controlled scientific study either proving or disproving masks on healthy people out in public slowing the spread and it is virtually impossible to make such a study. Way too many variables and forget blinding and placebo.

I truly think placebo is the biggest issue. We didn’t have to wear masks when people where dying back in March and April - the vaunted Dr. Fauci even said they were detrimental back then.

Then when things were getting better and Americans were beginning to live their lives, BAM - mask mandates. Massive shut downs weren’t going to go over, so let’s make the populace wear a muzzle.

I think we are living in The Truman Show.

By the way, I was at a Harley Rally at my local HD dealership over Labor Day weekend. We go over year. Multiple bands, beer, booze, and food. Of the thousands they were there, I estimate less than 0.5% of people were wearing a mask. 1 in 200. Most “normal” Americans are so over this.

The food those chain restaurants feed you are a greater danger than Covid-19.

Most sane people are over the whole face diaper mandates. Except for the virtue signalers and those who are afraid of everything.

I lived part of my life in Asia.   There it wasn’t uncommon to see someone wear a mask when they were sick, but you never, ever saw healthy people wearing mask. The ignorance in this is just overwhelming.

But we’ve now opened Pandora’s box on this bullshit.   And it will come back to haunt us, over and over.

gasp!

Will someone study the spread from such a blatant disregard for other people?

Agree!!! I worry about Eppy and Mrs. Eppy. We’ve discovered that eating in makes us feel better, and when we do go out, we go high end with better quality food.

I’m just the opposite.  I avoid high end restaurants.  I don’t feel like paying top dollar for small portions of bland food.

I seek out the mom and pop local establishments.

Our budget is set for eating out one time per week. Vacation or weekend trips are budgeted separately.

I rarely eat out,  not because of the current restrictive rules but because I don't trust low wage people handling my food.   I will go out for a few beers with friends but that's about it and I haven't done that in over six months.
