According to Egypt's president Sisi, freedom of speech stops when it offends Muslims. We're rapidly heading to just this kind of mindset. According to the left, freedom of speech stops when it offends ANYONE. Speech that offends must be stopped. Speech that goes against the State must be stopped. What Sisi says is exactly the mindset of the left: "We have the right for out feelings not to be hurt..."
“We also have rights. We have the right for our feelings not to be hurt and for our values not to be hurt. And if some have the freedom to express what is in their thoughts I imagine that this stops when it comes to offending the feelings of more than 1.5 billion people,” Sisi said at a commemoration of Mohammed’s birthday, a holiday called Mawlid celebrated by Sunni Muslims on October 29 this year.

When a totalitarian regime tries to come in and take over, they don't announce themselves or show their true colors.
It begins by softening the populace and redefining the norms (the new normal). Get control of the media, and control of education and medical care. Sound familiar?
Also, create an enemy that is difficult to define or see. Keep the populace in fear of this enemy. Sound familiar?
I look around today in America and see exactly what has happened in communist take overs in the last 100+ years. Exact same techniques.
We are one election away from transforming into Venezuela, Cuba, USSR or Communist China. The fact that the CCP is so heavily involved in our Big Tech and has a compromised Biden running for president is truly alarming.

This is nothing new, and in fact such restrictions are practiced by our “friends” the Brits and the Canadians.
The UK makes “Freedom of Expression” can be an offense if a person uses “threatening, abusive or insulting words or behavior that causes, or is likely to cause, another person harassment, alarm, or distress.”
“Hate speech” is subjective, yet the Swiss passed a law making hate speech illegal.
Mark Stein was criminally charged in Canada for “Insulting Islam” based on some passages in a book he wrote.

Agreed. But this goes WAAAAY beyond that. "We have the right for our feelings not to be hurt." Harassment, distress, harm can be objectively measured. Hate speech, not so much but like porn we know it when we see it. Kinda sorta. But FEELINGS? C-mon man! Biden hurts my feelings all the time. Can I tell him to shut up and have the police enforce it? I wish so.

It's not government per se anymore that is being tyrannical. It is the groups you cite plus education and corporate America which dangles your job over you to keep you in line.
This is why our 2A rights are so important.
