Two weeks ago we drove through parts of Idaho and had lunch and made a Walmart stop in Rexburg. We saw very little mask usage. We also stopped several times at a convenience store in Ashton and they had no mask sign on the door.

I can't speak to southern Idaho, but in the panhandle it's less than 2%.

plenty of people in maskachusetts still wearing masks outside or when alone driving.
It'll be interesting to see how many people in maskachusetts are sans mask now that the mask mandate has expired. (maskachusetts has a very high vaccination rate...)

That’s why it was so disturbing to liberals when the Great Mask Shift occurred and the vaccinated were told they could unmask after being told no, they could still get the virus and give it to others!!!! “Vaxxed or not, stay masked” was our official state guidance. Requiring only the unvaccinated to mask is a way to visibly and publicly mark the unvaccinated so they can be shamed and targeted by the self anointed virtuous elite. It’s another way to flag “conservative terrorists” since it seems opinions about the vaccine are largely divided along political lines.
This is all so bizarre. It was the liberal hippies a generation ago that eschewed vaccines because “Big Pharma evil capitalists just want profit and vaccines are unnatural and cause autism”. They were all about alternative medicine, herbal remedies, home birth with a midwife and were deeply suspicious of mainstream medicine. And now, it’s the left that is pushing a vaccine... that was developed so fast solely because Trump! That’s two levels of upside down inside out world.
Conversely it used to be that the right were more likely to trust mainstream medicine and pharmaceuticals, but now it’s the right that’s pointing out the greed of Big Pharma, and rejecting the vaccine their idol Trump worked so hard to roll out.
The left used to be all about my body my choice in everything. Abortion, drugs, sex, medical treatment. Now they would be happy to force mass vaccinations on all of us despite what they say “I don’t care if you get vaccinated” but also, “if you’re not vaccinated wear a mask! Stay the hell away from me because even though I’m vaccinated you’re a deadly threat to me. And anyway, you’re a science denier, and a racist.”

Before Pope Tony’s lab created pandemic, only the sick wore a mask and/or isolated. But the Branch Covidians rewrote science to force everyone into the face burka. Now the BC’s want to use it to shame the “anti-vaxers”.

Back to the OP. This was a brilliant political move by the Lt Gov and a really dumb move by the Gov.
She has now made the Gov expose himself, and this will cost him votes next year.

That is exactly what I'm thinking. The governor misstepped badly when he said, "This kind of over-the-top executive action amounts to tyranny – something we all oppose."
Wait, wut?? He's got that bass-ackwards. Forcing everyone to muzzle themselves is the tyranny, not the other way round.

Exactly. If he was political savvy, he would have agreed with her decision, if not expanded upon it.

Just using the word "tyranny" will trigger 64% of the voters (proportion who voted for Trump) who believe the Biden Administration is literally a tyranny. Yep he screwed up bad.

They know it and desperately want to pass HR1 the status of which I don’t know at the moment. These people seriously believe now, that all Republicans are enemy insurgents.
I have to dig up that I think it was a CNN reporter? That said the news is supposed to be objective between left and right but the right is now so wrong and evil that the news is obligated to be biased to the left. They don’t even pretend anymore. They have now openly declared war on half the population.
These people truly believe any manner of cheating is justified to keep Democrats in power. I expect widespread fraud in 2022 to try to get rid of these Republican governors and legislators if they’re allowed to get away with it.

I totally agree. My wife and of course my adult daughter are both Irish. And all that that implies. They take shit from no one.
