“Take five minutes to watch this magnificent talk --Listen carefully to what Captain Jerry Yellin, the pilot of the last mission of WWII, says and how he says it on his visit to Iwo Jima.
You’ll enjoy every second of it.
How many of the few surviving WWII veterans kept themselves and their uniform in such good condition for over 70 years and can still proudly wear it?
Notice his superb and articulatedelivery, no teleprompter, no script -- just a 91-year-old fighter pilot representing the greatest generation at home and abroad who won WWII.
He has some surprises and a great take on the philosophy of life.
Enjoy !”

Thank you for posting this. Really choked me up to think of the bravery that generation had both those at home and those who served. And how few of them are left. Makes me weep for the country today.

My Dad was part of that generation. In the early 60's I remember he and I watching the news when LBJ signed some bill into law, can't remember what it was. He hung his head and told me that he may not see it but I'll see our country going down. He died in 1996 I'm glad he's not here to see what is going on.

Mine was too. He died in early 2001. Missed the whole 9/11 thing, fortunately.

Great video. We have a man in our Commemorative Air Force Wisconsin Wing who was a B-29 radio operator on that final mission. He’s 97 and starting to fail rapidly.
It was entertaining if you got cornered with him. He carried a binder with pictures, etc of that last mission.
