Yes, definitely. As it says on the site, these are the opinions of varied people on the web. As usual with such data, it tends to be biased to the extremes -- people either love or hate the DPE -- not a lot of in between.

The guy I did my IR with was a mensch, and a couple people put him down as rude and unprofessional.

Well sometimes these things will depend on how the DPE and the applicant interact on a personal level.
Have you provided a positive review for the DPE? Perhaps consider doing so?

I understand that there has been a mandate for the FAA to develop a feedback and tracking system. Could be an improvement depending on how it is implemented. But being a government implemented system, I will be somewhat skeptical.

AFAIK, that system is already in place.

Too bad, because that doesn't benefit the public directly then.
Honestly my experience and that of other instructors here in AZ is that the local FSDO doesn't really want to be bothered to do much about them.

DPE's are appointed by the administrator. Therefore the administrator must provide oversight of their operations.
I can't see having a DPE public opinion page on the net provided by the FAA as being useful.

It would help me avoid dealing with and paying a d-bag DPE?
Is there an internal FAA system that collects public opinion about ASIs also? :D I would find that incredibly useful also, as a member of the public.

Usually just asking around can get someone familiar with a DPE.

Don't know. Given that so few people have any actual interactions with FAA ASI's anymore, unless they are on a 135 or a 121 certificate (or Part 145 repair station).

I few minor changes to the http://dpereviews.org website just went up.

No matter what I put in it results in the same list all over the country. IfI put Birmingham in FSDO same result. Even putting in a name I get the list of all over the country. Useless as of now, at least to me.

Thanks for the comment. Not sure how you are entering the information. One needs to fill in the value desired in the text field to the right of the button for the search type you desire and then press the button.
If you press the button with no value, then you get the list for the full country.

The database is missing a lot of DPEs. For example the FAA designee locator search page lists 7 DPEs in South Dakota, but that web site shows only one of them.

Yes, it is based on an older database. Obviously those DPEs have no reviews presently. If you send one in for another DPE it will be added.
If it continues to be reasonably popular, the database should be modified to stay current.

FSDO button
I’ve entered Birmingham, Birmingham FSDO, BHM FSDO, BHM with no results.

The FSDO search is on FSDO codes, like WP07. Not so clear an aspect of the UI and should probably be a pull-down.
If you want to search for Birmingham, put it in the address field and search by address.

Nah too much trouble. I’m an active CFI and was just curious what people had to say about a few DPEs in the Birmingham area.

Turns out there are no reviews for any DPE in Alabama. Submit some!
