This past Friday I lost a good friend and fellow aviator. Wayne lived in the ATL area and was an active poster on the Purple Board. Several years ago Wayne attended a PB get together in Edenton, NC at Mimi Reiheld home. It was a great weekend. I flew with Wayne as a safety pilot on one occasion. Wayne was very active with Angel Flight and had also flown Young Eagles recently for our EAA Chapter.

He had been accepted for an early retirement on July 31st. His wife retired from Truist last year and they had plans to do some traveling. He was so excited about those plans.  :(

WTF?  That is terrible.   So sorry for your and their loss.  Not to hijack your thread, but my ex girlfriend from my senior year in college (she was a law student then at the same school I attended), the mother of my only child, is in hospice from a rare cancer with weeks to live.  I spoke with her recently.

This makes no sense.   Whatever was his cause of death?  So sad.

That’s horrible!  My husband just retired and he is so happy and having such a great time. How sad Wayne missed out on what can be the best years of life.  :'(

That's awful.   Sorry Eppy.   Must have been congenital since it sounds like he was very active.   Thanks, btw.

My best friend was the same way.  Very athletic, lean and active. Had his first heart attack at age 29.  Had many more and finally died at 64 sitting at his table reading a book.  Severe heart disease was heavy in his family so very genetically inclined.

He and he wife had a trip to Europe planned this year. It included the French Open, she is a big tennis fan.

Tragic. Life is way too short and unpredictable. Enjoy the hell out of it while you can.
