Title: NVSS getting a "system-wide upgrade"
Post by: President-Elect Bob Noel on June 05, 2022, 05:30:47 PM

"Notice: The National Vital Statistics System (NVSS) will be undergoing a system-wide upgrade starting June 6, 2022. NVSS COVID-19 surveillance webpages and data files will be paused between June 6, 2022 through June 17, 2022. Data updates are expected to resume on June 20, 2022. "

a two week upgrade process?  my, very impressive... very impressive indeed.

I wonder if the "experts" ever heard about running systems in parallel... a technique that has worked successfully for decades.

Imagine if all the self important cube dwellers and bureaucrats tracking Covid 19 just stopped wasting time on that crap and got a real job.  Like driving a truck or repairing train tracks, or anything useful.  Like what the country really needs right now.

When there's data to be manipulated???

Well, they managed to not do the "upgrade" on schedule...  Now finishing a week later...

Any bets on additional delays?

The data doesn't support their masters' policies.  The data must be changed.

Since there is precisely zero incentive to meet their own deadline for an upgrade that was of their own choosing, as each due-date arrives the resumption date will be pushed back at each due-date.

Same sort of M.O. (due-date push-back when a due-date arrives) was seen with the Environmental Review for SpaceX's launching of their Starship.

But yeah, pretty badly run when they have to pause updates to the data on their web pages for weeks at a time.
