I love this airplane. It's the one in the Star Trek episode "Tomorrow is Yesterday" which is one of my favorites. Too cool, but a handful and had a rep as a "widowmaker". Don't know if that's true. I've read that the West Germans bought them then wished they bought the Dasault Mirage III instead. Don't know if that's true, either. Not a dogfither but a very capable plane none the less. What a hotrod rocket ship.

Wow, yes, very cool. That’s also one of my favorite Star Trek episodes.

When I was stationed in Glia Bend, AZ the German pilots trained in those.

I love that plane. Amazing some militaries used it as a fighter vs an interceptor.

Think he mentioned 210 approach speed…wow. When I was stationed in W. Germany the German Air Force would occasionally buzz our airfield during exercises. Amazing jet. A guy in Montgomery AL had one years ago. Think he was a former Marine pilot. He had a Mig-15 and a British fighter too.
