So pilots prefer to rely on objective reality rather than emotion? Sounds like a very good thing.
Such research will help practitioners identify new opportunities in pilot training and organizational culture, the better to equip pilots for aviation duty, ultimately leading to improved safety, performance, and all-around satisfaction.
So let’s ruin it by teaching pilots to be more in touch with their fee fees. “Improved safety, etc.”, sounds like a good made up argument to get research grants.

EI doesn’t correlate to performance. I had some great chief petty officers who probably had a negative EI score.
