Title: Mandatory video
Post by: Rush on January 15, 2023, 11:11:25 AM
Yes it’s two hours. This should be required watching for everyone in the U.S.  No, I’m not gonna summarize it for you. I will say this:  HUGE insight into what’s going on in DC.  Also, he tells what that convo with AOC was about that was caught on camera!  He also discusses the Mike Rogers incident.  And those aren’t even the good parts.

Enlightening and interesting. We’ll see going forward if anything changes. It’s so entrenched I doubt anything changes.

I've gotten nearly half way through it.

Hahaha!  I’m telling you I cannot watch these things.  I have to listen to them while I’m doing dishes or mowing the yard or mindless data processing with my job, when it doesn’t require thought.

I’m stuck between being black pilled and hope because of people like him.

But now for example, did protesting on Jan 6 accomplish ANYTHING?  Or did it just make everything worse, by making the FBI, NSA etc. turn their sights inward to us. And making the Dems double down on cheating?

I worry that technology now makes it impossible to resist the rising authoritarianism.  On the other hand, it is very wrong to give up.

If I tried to listen to it while cleaning up the kitchen, the leftovers would be in the dishwasher and the dirty plates would be in the fridge.
I don't even want to think what would happen if I listened while mowing the lawn.

Maybe that’s why my husband tells me my mowing rows aren’t straight.

If my wife mowed the lawn, I would N O T be complaining about anything.

My wife loves to mow the lawn. Says it helps her decompress from work.

I never considered it for years.  Not that he wanted me to.  He likes to mow, it decompresses him.  Then we moved here and the lady next door does all the mowing.  My husband kept saying, “Look at her, she’s a GOOD wife. She mows!”  So one day I’m like, “Fuck you, I’m just as good as she is.  Show me how to start this thing.”  So he did and I started mowing and found it was fun!  Now my husband is sorry he did that, and we actually fight over who gets to mow.

Finished it this morning. It was quite interesting, like where they take the freshman out for dinner and they are seated with lobbyists.

Except for admiring it from a distance, I am done with lawns and mowing.  The condo association hires professionals.

Kind of like driving old cars to be able to afford flying, mowing your own lawn can save money.

But I do understand the value of hiring a landscaper.

After buying the property next door and demolishing the house, we have about an acre of property.  About a third of it is grass and the rest is a bunch of islands with native trees and bushes.  We do all the landscaping and weeding, but we have a guy come in once a week to edge the islands, sidewalks and driveways and blow the debri into the grass and then mow/mulch the grass and debri.  It takes him about 2 hours where I was spending dozens of hours every week and when he does it, the whole place looks gorgeous.  When I did it, I only did one or two areas at a time so the whole lawn never looked "done" at the same time.  And it seemed I was doing parts of it almost every day and spending many hours total.   He is well worth the $200/month.

I call that the free market being properly used. Voluntary exchange of labor for money.

Yes, very enlightening how things work in DC!

Exactly.  When we were first married my wife said that having a housekeeper come in once a week was not negotiable.  I was not excited about a stranger coming into our home, but when she was done I remarked that was the best money we ever spent.  She has all the right tools, knows exactly what needs to be done, is not distracted by other stuff.  Super fast and good.  I'll never go back.

Same with landscaping.  A crew comes in with all the right equipment, skills, and in an hour the landscaping looks perfect.  I can't tell a plant from a weed, so it's good to have experts doing the pulling, mowing, and trimming.  Way faster than I could do it even if I was motivated.

Yeah, I could shovel the walk and get a snowblower to do the driveway.  But we have the neighborhood guy with a big tractor do a couple of passes and done.  His son jumps off and does the walk.  Fast and easy, especially when I have a driveway that's a couple hundred yards long.  They come out automatically any time there's more than 2" of snow.

I figure that I'll do what I'm good at to earn the money to give to others for them to do what they are good at.  And then get all the relaxation I need by getting out and flying or just looking at a yard (or house cleaning) job well done.

Agree. We had a cleaning lady come for many years, especially when we lived in the 3 story house and my knees were bad walking up and down the steps.  Now we are all one level and since we moved here I haven’t got a new one.  I probably will eventually as we get older.
