Title: Biden's Energy Secretary wants U.S. Military to be all ELECTRIC by 2030.

Biden Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm testified Wednesday to the Senate Armed Services Committee that she supported requiring the United States military to move to an all-electric non-vehicle fleet by 2030.

These people are so in bed with the Vehicle Manufacturers and MIC that they will sacrifice National Security for their own BANK ACCOUNTS!  They are also effing nuts if they think people will go along with this insanity.

This dumb bitch better have a long extension cord to charge vehicles in the desert, jungles, islands and arctic environments where wars are fought.

It's beyond ludicrous and, by the way, IMPOSSIBLE.  I guess the MIC and auto companies are putting the screws to them over very, very bad EV sales in which they've all spent Trillions tooling up for.

Can't sell them to a public who doesn't want them so sell them to the military.  They'll buy anything.  As long as there's 50% for the big guys.

So the Abrams has a 1500 HP turbine engine. Running it for 5 hours will cost 5,600 kWh.  A Tesla has a 60 kWh battery.  So you'll only need 100 Tesla batteries to run your Abrams.  And how long to recharge?  But at least it won't contribute to global warming.

I doubt the Russians and Chinese aren't worrying about going Green. Just battle readiness and mission capability.  While we worry about Woke and Green policy both based on complete and utter LIES.

I'm sure the Russian T-14a will just wait until our Abrams recharges.

Hm... on the other hand, a hybrid gas/electric tank would have some advantages.  Kind of like the diesel electric locomotive.  All electric is a sucky idea, but AbramsX sounds kind of cool.  Although "silent" is going to be pretty relative with a tank.

The next-generation Abrams main battle tank will be given a hybrid conventional-electric propulsion system, enabling 50 percent less fuel consumption and silent mobility, General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) revealed this week.

The vehicle manufacturer will unveil the AbramsX technology demonstrator at an exhibition next week with other vehicle concepts.
Lighter Version

The AbramsX is lighter than the in-service M1A2 System Enhanced Package Version 3 tank (SEPv3), ensuring better mobility and transportability.

Nothing like what that nitwit energy secretary wants. This tank still runs on diesel.

Meanwhile, Illinois Governor:  “Hold my beer.”

Newly built and renovated homes in Illinois will next year be required to have electric vehicle charging stations in their garages and parking spaces under a new state law.

Senate Bill 40, signed into law by Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker on June 9 as the Electric Vehicle Charging Act, will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2024, after being passed by both Houses last month.

The law applies to newly constructed houses as well as multi-unit residential buildings with parking spaces that are built after that date.

"A new single-family residence or a small multifamily residence shall have at least one EV-capable parking space for each residential unit that has dedicated parking," the law says.

In addition, large multifamily residential buildings like a block of apartments or condos that are being renovated by a developer converting it into an association must have "100% of its total parking spaces EV-capable."

The law also allows for renters to install EV charging equipment in their parking spaces at their own expense.

and in 10 years all the EV zombats will wonder why no one is building new homes or doing major renovations...

edit:  and how does that fit with the dream liberals have that everyone should use public transportation?

I'd prefer to see all new construction designed/built with solar panels.  I would stop short of mandating it, but I might not be opposed to tax credits for the builders.

Like it or not, and regardless of what type of fuel we use in the future, our energy needs are going to increase and the grid will be a huge point of failure.  Individual solar panels will take a big strain off the grid, and I don't "think" that solar generated electricity is taxed.

There are credits for the installation of wind, solar, geothermal or fuel cells - Internal Revenue Code Sec. 48.

If its capacity is below 1 megawatt, the credit is 30% of the cost the project. If it’s over one megawatt, the credit starts at 6%, but can get multiples by 5 to get up to 30% provided you use prevailing wages and have an apprenticeship program. In other words, Biden got Union labor involved for large projects.
