Don't forget that online courses are an option (albeit with their own set of problems)

Online high school classes are an absolute joke.

I teach high school Engineering/Aviation/Aerospace.  My Tango Flight Program (www.tangoflight.org) is in 11 high schools around the country.  Every one of them is shut down for the remainder of the school year.  However, all are currently planning to open in the fall.

My local school district went to online classes in March (right after spring break).  To call it a joke would be a huge understatement.  I did better than most teachers, but only averaged about 70 percent of my kids doing ANYTHING.

We just received word this week that we must pass every student.  Unless we can document a ton of different ways that we called parents, students, counselors, principals, etc.  then we have to pass the (entire semester is credit only).

I  refuse to do it.  I passed everyone that put forth any effort, including a number that don’t deserve it, but I can not give someone credit that I have not even heard from since before spring break.  Maybe I’ll get luck and they will fire me.  It will save me having to decide if I’m coming back in the fall or not.

Davey Crockett was born, here I was not lol.

I’m currently sitting about a ten minute drive from his birth site.  I’m waving, wave back!

Best Rock drummer of tall time.  Had the privilege of seeing Rush several times.  The energy and talent of all of them was incredible, but Neil was on a level all by himself.

Huge amount of respect for his talent, and the way he handled himself through unbelievable tragedy in his personal life.

Add to that price transparency.  The vast majority of medical care is non-emergency.  Make it was for people to comparison shop for that knee replacement, etc.

Scary story.

Have a Phd friend that is doing some REALLY high level AI stuff.  Interestingly they are using GPU's to do the heavy processing.

Anyway, they developed a system that could analyze MRI's, etc.  It very quickly got to the point that it was way better than a doctor at detecting anomalies.  Then the scary part.  It has started exhibiting behaviours (it is a learning algorithm) that they can not explain.  i.e. it is doing things it shouldn't be.  Small scale at this point, but Skynet stuff...

That's just about a perfect mix!  Good for you!  Thanks for the heads up on the RV-12, as that is on my radar also.  It's hard to beat the Vans lineup.  I'm surprised they don't get more discussion.  I think the RV-6's are nice too, and they seem to be going for less money than the 7's, but still have excellent performance.  I don't need to haul a lot of stuff, nor back seaters anymore, so.......

For some reason the RV-6 sells at a discount.  I guess because folks want the newer model (7).  However, as long as you get one with the updated rudder (or don't mind doing/having it done) you can get some really good deals on some very nice 6's.  I've seen people get a basic VFR (older) panel, mid time engine RV-6(a) in the low 40's.  For what that plane will do, that is an incredible deal.

That's a really nice airplane.

Thanks, Wife and I built it, and we have really enjoyed it.  Amazingly capable, plane.  147knots TAS on 6.25 GPH.  Full IFR, three axis AP, etc.  I just push buttons and land :).

I'm paid to interact with high school kids all day every day.

I see a lot of good kids, but I also see kids that have been so oversupplied and protected that they would rather not try something new than risk failure.

Because they have never been allowed to fail at anything, they are so terrified of the idea that they might fail they won't even try.  I find that truly terrifying.

I'm pretty conservative on most issues.  I hate the idea of burning the flag, and think it is disgusting, however I would not be in favor of any sort of law that made it illegal.

I lump it into the KKK having the right to march, etc.  Disgusting stuff, but I firmly believe it is there right to do so.
