It’s about inertia.  When it hits something, the end yaws over. That makes the round tumble into the target.  Or is there another reason my range targets never had round holes like my pistol rounds do?

If your bullets were tumbling before hitting the target, something was drastically wrong. Don't know what that might have been (other than twist, as mentioned) but if shooting paper, one should see nothing but nice round bullet holes.

The FAA is going to look at the logs and may look to Piper to publish an SB or AD to address this. The nuts backed off and only had a few threads left.

Nuts backed off?  Is that confirmed?  (Not officially, of course)  Just what we need--a hundred hour AD requiring a mechanic to check and see if the carburetor is still firmly attached.

After the 2020 election, I'd say you guys need to be careful what you wish for.

Then they will use the 25th Amendment to install Camel Toe as president. According to the constitution, she could finish out Biden’s term, AND get her own two terms if she succeeds Biden with less than two years left in his term.

I hope you're wrong (and I'm not convinced you are) but installing Harris as president could actually be the last straw to clinch a Republican president for the following eight years.  Reason being, even the democrats can't stand the bitch.  Nobody who is on the fence (how can anybody be on the fence in times like these?) would vote for her.

Nobody likes Pink Floyd?  I still put Dark Side of the Moon in my top five, maybe top, period.  I never get tired of it.

Like most people in the country, I can't stand KH, but you do have to admit that question was INTENDED to piss her off.

ah.  sorry

No apology necessary, and certainly no offense taken!  I just wondered about the missing sight.  There has long been speculation in the shooting community that sometimes confiscated firearms, set for destruction by the police, end up in police officers' private collections, especially if the gun in question is collectible or otherwise valuable.  Honestly, I doubt that's what happened here, but still I wonder.

The deputy who handed the prosecutor the rifle with the bolt closed violated a safety rule that I first learned as a pre-teen.  Anyone who has been through a hunter safety course would know better than to do that.

He should take lessons from experienced gun handlers like the prosecutor in the Rittenhouse trial.

I've seen that pic before.  Question I have is "What happened to the sights on that rifle?" Did someone steal them?  Removed for "safety"?  Wouldn't that be tampering with evidence?

SMH And it still happens.

I wish I had a nickel for every time I found a tool or rag (my own or someone else's) stashed someplace in the plane.  On top of the cylinders seems like a favorite location.  I bet non-pilots would never believe that such things are even possible.

I don't doubt that, but I also don't find it encouraging.  Reason being, of all the democrat front-runners, Biden seems to be the one who would do the least damage if, God forbid, Trump should lose the election.

Sorry to necropost, but I just have to get this off my chest...

I apologize for making the silly post above.  I really had no idea that Biden, or anyone, for that matter, could fuck things up this badly.

You mean that initial set of little hops off the rail? To really fly them they went back to Huffman Prairie just outside Dayton

I seem to recall reading that the reason they went to NC was they needed a windy spot where they could fly gliders and, most especially, fly the gliders tethered like kites.  They wanted to learn the basics of flying an airplane before they started their powered flights.  I don't think the tethered-glider idea actually worked out in practice.

Let's have a reality check here.

Fine--you win.  You may now continue to whip yourself into a frenzy over shit you have no control over.

We picked up seats in the House rather than losing them as projected.  If we field a candidate for President with good solid conservative creds, solid experience and a mouth filter, I think we will win in 2024 by a land slide.

I don't think I would go so far as to predict a landslide victory, but I think the Rs have a fighting chance.  As you point out, there were conservative gains in the House (close enough now to make Nancy nervous) and evidently the Senate has not been lost.  Also (just my opinion here) the only reason Trump lost this election is that he is a jackass personally.  He unapologetically pisses people off right and left, figuratively and politically.  By any objective standard he is a pretty good president otherwise, and probably could have gotten a few democrat votes if he had at least made some effort to play nice (even if he was lying).

No one in his right mind could have voted for Biden thinking that he would be a good president.  And look who becomes president if/when he fails--did Harris get even one percent of the vote in the primaries?  No one, not even the vast majority of democrats, likes her.

So pour yourself a drink and remain calm in the knowledge that Biden will not be able to get much done (executive orders notwithstanding) without the Senate.  But he better eat his Wheaties and stay healthy, because a Harris presidency would be an unmitigated disaster.

Who cares about the popular vote?

In 2016 I thought it interesting (and a bit sad) that some people were saying that the electoral college system gave the small states too much power, when, in fact, that system was put in place precisely so smaller states would not be lost in the noise and controlled by the large states.  The election of 2016 was a demonstration of why the electoral college system exists.
