People in this country are going to see and experience things they can't comprehend.   It's only a matter of time.

The problem is the Constitution is written in the broadest terms imaginable.  The Founders almost certainly did this on purpose, they wrote a document to last the ages.  In many cases it simply can't be read as written.  The Founders didn't know about airplanes, the internet, or vaccines.
So we should just make it say whatever we want through court rulings instead of going through the process that was placed into the Constitution to change it?

That's the problem.  no matter what, you HAVE to read things in that aren't there, because there are lots of things now that weren't there in 1776.
No, you don't.

Says you.  I know quite a few people who's health care was improved dramatically.  I suspect GOP Senators would have had an easier time back in their districts if no one benefitted from it.
Arizona (116%), Oklahoma (69%) and Tennessee (63%). The number in parenthesis are the increases in those states. Tell me again how those people's health care was improved by those increases?

By the way, I am really tired of MY tax dollars getting sucked up into a military that builds more and more sophisticated weapons to blow up camels and tents and make me no safer and do almost no one any good.
Article I, Section 8, Clauses 12 and 13.

I am tired of a War on Drugs in which the drugs are the only victors.
There's a point that you can actually make an argument with.

I am tired of paying for law enforcement that has turned America into an armed camp and regards my Constitutionally guaranteed freedoms as a trite inconvenience.
Take it up with your state then because they're the ones who control the law enforcement and accept the federal funding for some of the militarized equipment. Also, you don't get to complain about a more militarized law enforcement because it messes with your Constitutional rights and then tell me I must purchase health care as if forcing me to pay a penalty if I don't purchase terrible insurance is somehow not messing with my Constitutional rights or my ability to be an independent and responsible adult.

I am tired of initiatives based on someone else's invisible man in the sky.  I pay huge amounts of my taxes for this nonsense that doesn't benefit me in any way at all and I'm tired of it.
Cite the federal taxes you pay that go towards these. Otherwise, sounds like a state issue.

This is such a great quote:

Quote from: Justice Antonin Scalia
"The Constitution is not a living organism," he said. "It's a legal document, and it says what it says and doesn't say what it doesn't say."

Forget what the liberals did or want.  Forget whether the President-Elect is republican, democrat, or the devil-incarnate (no offense Lucifer).

Should the filibuster be in play for Cabinet posts that require Senate confirmation?

Since the filibuster is not mentioned in the Constitution, I say NO.

It does make one wonder if he is afraid to face derision because of his never ending diatribes about Trump. That would / could be especailly painful now that Trump won so handily. Maybe Jeff doesn't like to think of himself as a target, just as a marksman.

I'm confident that JeffDG would handle it with more class than the liberals frothing at the mouth.

Some people would feel the exact same way about the multiple Benghazi investigations Congress conducted.

Some people are blind to the crimes and lies of the democrats, even when people die.

Yes, we are in for 4 years of the liberals and MSM in constant faux outrage over everything and anything Trump does, even if it is good and promotes the country.  I have no doubt before Trump finishes his inauguration speech the liberals will be screaming for a special counsel and bantering around the word impeachment at every opportunity.

and we also are in for constant outrage over things that Trump isn't responsible for.

Castro perfectly displayed the Maggie Thatcher quote that Stan used to use:

Quote
Socialism “would rather the poor were poorer, provided the rich were less rich.”

He did indeed bring a lot of social equality to Cuba.  He made them all poor.

No, he hasn't. You've read a partisan account of what is a perfectly fine position of a departing president. He'll make no direct criticism of Trump, allowing him the room to govern and acknowledging a time-honored tradition. But he'll not hesitate to defend American ideals if necessary. I'd ask no less of any president, no matter the party.
No.  Wrong.  I read what he said.

And to clarify, he will not defend 'American ideals', he will defend his legacy and his ideals - those are two totally and completely different, if not diametrically opposed  things.  To be honest, I think that the inability of most people to separate that is why nearly all previous Presidents do not insert themselves into the public sphere once they leave office.

Do you believe that Bush 43 ever felt, just a little, that Obama was stepping outside of American ideals, say with the apology tour, or opposing Israel's self defense, or encouraging and sustaining the fabrications that gave us Black Lies Matter, pushing for a radical Gay Rights agenda, or refusing to name Radical Islam, or not seeking to protect American jobs, or refusing to enforce the border, or the Iranian ransom and nuclear deals?  Just a little?  Any of those have had significant repercussions for us as a Nation and fell outside our ideals, again for a plurality if not a majority.

As an example, if you buy a house that you like but think it might take just a little tweak to make it perfect how would you describe that?  Would you say you need to make a few minor changes, or would you say it needs a fundamental transformation?

Obama's ideals are NOT traditional American ideals or values, this has been demonstrated again and again in who he chooses to side with and who he chooses to let loose the dogs of war upon (see attacks on the police, military command structure, small business, big business, IRS targeting of conservative organizations, see his support of Black Lies Matter, Occupy Wall Street, etc.).

Identity politics is Anti-American, about as Anti-American as you can get IMO - anyone who uses or worse seeks a further balkanization of us as a people either does not understand American ideals, or does understand them and is actually opposed to them.

With the Hillary thing, he doesn't get to say and it might be an interesting set up on his part.  Let's say Jan 22 comes and the new FBI director reopens the investigation and after some time says there is sufficient evidence to recommend charges so the new AG moves forward and gets an indictment.

Meantime the MSM goes nuts with "you told us you wouldn't pursue this" to which he replies, "it is not my decision and it would not be right for me to interfere because you guys would be all over me for telling the DOJ what to do and not do"
