Spin Zone / Re: Automatic Rifles? Really?
« on: March 25, 2021, 08:31:29 AM »
I heard this on the radio this morning.  I'm not sure who said it, but I'm sure it won't really surprise anyone here.

The closest mass killing with an auto that I can recall was that guy that used a bumps stock.
I assume he is thinking "AR15" is an Automatic Rifle.

Total BS.  Folks in America are shot with all kinds of firearms.  There is only one item of commonality that link nearly all of them.  The vast majority of firearm victims in the US are known to their assailants.  Half are suicides.  The incidents of malefactors shooting masses of people with assault rifles are outliers, most assault rifle owners are law-abiding citizens acting well within their rights.  Indeed most firearm owners are law-abiding citizens acting responsibly within their rights.  There are as many firearms in circulation in the US as there are people.  If America was how the media portrays us we'd be at war.

Pilot Zone / Re: Ford Tri-Motor Restoration

Just got back from my first day. It was fun. A little history, it started off in an airline Mexico, then was used for flights between Florida and Cuba, it was then part of Island Airlines in Put-in-Bay from 1946-1952. It made it's way to Idaho, where it crashed, then it was bought and went to Michigan. It sat in Michigan for a long while when it was given to the foundation to be restored. The goal is to have it flight ready in 5 years. They are trying to knock off 1,000 pounds off the gross weight, so it can be flown single pilot only. I practiced riveting, drilling, and made a bracket to mount the ground power to the frame. It wasn't too pretty, but it will work. I've never really worked with sheet metal before.

Pics as soon as I can figure out how to make them smaller.
Congrats.  That sounds really cool.  Hopefully I'll stop up and visit one of these days.

Spin Zone / Re: Welp I voted

I voted absentee.  Didn't feel like risking getting the 'rona.  Dropped our ballots off the other day.  Place was busy too, good to see.  I told my students to get registered and vote.  Didn't tell them who to vote for, just told them that absentee ballots were really easy to get, and that they should make their voices heard.  They're the future.

They have this newfangled vote machine where you hit your choices on a screen with a pencil eraser and when you’re done they print out your card. The screen was full of eraser marks on Trump and all the republicans.  ;D

The poll worker said they had way more voters come than they expected for the first day of early voting.

Very poor written law.  Buttocks, what female swimsuit nowadays does not show some?

I want to see a picture of the woman that called the cops and complained.  That should tell the story.

I don't shop there but kudos for COSTCO refusing refunds on TP, paper towels, sanitzing wipes, water, rice, and Lysol.

All you f'n hoarders can choke on your 100-year supply of TP.

Read some about this, boy does it sound bad.  The "attackers" were actually extras on the guy's TV show.  This sounds like outright fraud.  He could be guilty of a crime if he filed a police report, you aren't allowed to lie to the cops (though they can lie through their teeth to you).
