that's simply not true.

If they were actually concerned about the Constitution, they would be defending the second amendment rather than attacking it at every opportunity.
You're right... what they say and what they do are two very different things.

It seems like the new Left buzzword is "constitutional crisis".  I suppose that's better than the previous buzzword of "existential crisis".  But it's amazing that the Left is now all concerned about the Constitution.  They never were before.  Or maybe because their focus groups found that the current buzzword sounds more ominous.  Sheesh.

Mark did sell his Tesla and buy a gas guzzler.  So much for climate change.   8) ::)
And he already gave Musk his money.  Selling his Tesla does nothing except show that climate change isn't important after all.

I'm convinced that the amount of intelligence in the world is fixed and distributed more or less evenly through everyone.  Way back when there were fewer people, they were smarter and were able to invent things like the wheel, tame fire, and huge monuments.  As the population grew, the amount of intelligence per person declined.  We're only able to make advancements through rare people that got a higher proportion or by pooling intelligence in groups.  The general population is getting stupider because there's less intelligence to go around.  Notice that the generation that emerges after plagues or major wars is smarter?  That's why the Boomer generation is so smart and the current generation is so stupid.

Interesting - I just asked Grok3 the following question which I know something about “How to judge accuracy of spike sorting algorithms in neuroscience?”

It actually came up with a pretty good description of the general thoughts in the field on this.

So it seems like a good replacement for the first level of search on an area. Sort of like an encyclopedia.
That's exactly what I use it for.  A first level of search to lay out the area for a deeper dive in academic journals.  It's not perfect, but it does do a good job of getting a first approximation of an answer.

It's St. Urho's Day Eve!  Everyone Celebrate!

My annual ran out end of February.  I'm still waiting for maintenance to get it in for its annual.  Sucks to be grounded as the weather is finally turning nice.

Being a congressional law vs. constitutional provision, it should just take another congressional law to reduce it to 3 days a week.  Lots of stupid things are mandated by congress.  And they can be un-mandated as well.

So I don' hijack the G1000 thread below, I thought I'd start a new one.

These AI tools like Grok are pretty amazing.  I'm about to start the every two year polishing of the 170 and got to thinking... how about let someone else do it.  Got a quote for $4500.  But how much work is that?  I know it's about two weeks of afternoons for me (with frequent beverage and sitting around breaks).  But what else?  Let's ask Grok!  The 170 takes about 50-100 hours to polish.  How much surface area?  About 815 square feet.  And a bunch of other questions that would have taken hours of research (including the rabbit holes) to figure out.

Where things like Wiki were quick and dirty approximations of answers that still took a long time to dig through, you can get fast answers to pretty much anything, plus the reasoning behind it, plus other things that I didn't think of.  Pretty amazing time we're living in.

Agreed on all points.  The actual trans community is very, very small and has an actual medical condition.  But trans is the new gay.  It's a status symbol.  And transitioning a child who doesn't even know what sex is... that's contemptible.  We don't allow anyone to get a tattoo under 16.  Yet we can give them life altering drugs and body altering surgery because a girl likes to play with trucks or a boy wants to play with dolls.  Sorry... action figures.  Never mind men who are mediocre athletes growing their hair and dominating women's sports.  I never saw this so clearly: Satan lives.

Note that the previous post in no way implies that anyone here is stupid. :)

Exactly. Usually there is a lot of context missing. You always need to know context but it’s like people are too stupid to even be aware there’s such a thing as context, like for example something that happened just before the video recording started, that flips the whole thing on its head.
Exactly exactly!  Like when you see a clip of something Trump says that's outrageous.  Then someone posts "here's the whole clip so you can see the context of the short thing" and find out that Trump was saying exactly the opposite of what the clip says.  Like "We're going to put a 200% tariff on booze" and the whole clip says "No way we're going to put a 200% tariff on booze".  Context is everything, but beware of those who are ignorant of it or purposely leave it out.  Unfortunately people are too stupid to wait for the context before reacting.

Drudge was great for the long-form up to the second news.  But once it went far left I lost interest.  CNN was a response to the once-a-day 6 o'clock news.  A great attempt to get current news out there within the broadcast format.  Then it found that it had to fill the gaps between actual news and that's where it went mostly opinion.

There are flaws to the X format.  The news is indeed fast, but it's still human-based.  That human has biases and a limited view of the situation.  If you were to act on the first thing that comes out, you're subject to that bias.  Fortunately, you can keep scrolling and find many more viewpoints of the same event.  And through it all you may have a complete picture of what's going on.  Comments on the first post also help provide context.  Unfortunately, as you said, most are bottom of the barrel stupid.  It takes a lot of focus to separate the wheat from the chaff.

It's indeed an interesting time we're living in.  Platforms like X are changing the way we perceive the world.  I am VERY VERY VERY happy that it's finally balanced.

It's real.  And a basic function of the MSM news format.  Even if they had up to the second  information, they are still stuck with a talking head telling you about it for at least five minutes.  If it's something you may not be interested in, there's no way to skip it and move on to the next thing.  With X you can scroll past the stuff you don't care about.  Takes maybe 1/2 second or less.  Keep scrolling until you find the right topic and then spend some time on it.

Until MSM can break that format, and I don't see how that's possible, it can never compete with X or any other multi-band streaming content service.

The stuff on the shelves should be tariff free.  Quick!  Hoard it!  You'll thank me later.

It's all the hyper short-term thinking.  Trump does something and the entire TDS community goes from 0 to 100 on the crazy meter.  But wait a day or so and it sorts itself out for the better.  Like investing.  Investing in a stock for anything less than a year is just gambling.  Trump is playing a much longer game than most are used to.  And the 24/7 MSM news can't adjust.
