Spin Zone / Re: White Privilege - the ultimate liberal fantasy
« on: June 02, 2020, 02:51:29 PM »
It is going to be hard to keep propping up the narrative that one’s personal choices were forced on one by society. The existence of tremendously or even just happily successful black people puts the lie to the victim narrative.

Go back and carefully re-read my post, That was my point...the sense of entitlement within that quote that is rampant within black community waiting for someone to "give" them those values is the issue IMO...and why those that do succeed and get ahead of those social disparities rise above that notion of it being someone else's problem.

I heard the whole issue summed up in one sentance from a news clip today by an African American protestor making a speech...

"Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness have not been given to us yet..."

There is no doubt in my mind that blacks are at a social disadvantage over whites in large swaths of America, but I believe its is because of that belief rooted in their community as stated above.

They were not "given" to me either as a caucasian in America, rather made available to me if I so choose to stand up for the values that the Constitution affords and the society we have built.

Everyone has fantasies, except liberals can't separate them from fact.

HA!..I never said it was true...love how the counter argument is to just scream "LIBERAL!"...nice argument there Bub!

I'm convinced Putin is secretly loving this. Finally a worthy opponent.

I head an interesting theory that Putin was pulling all the strings even back to the chemical attack which allowed the US to make an impressive yet relatively inconsequential attack in Syria to help appease both the war mongers who dominate both governmental leaderships as well as squash the Russian ties critics all while bolstering Trump's position in the world standing.

Hmmmmmm....

This crap along with splitting the state comes up every few years...just fluff by a bunch of blow hards that never goes anywhere except for sensationalism journalism.

...and if Hillary had won Texas succeeding would be the headlines.

Trump campaigned on a pledge of full repeal.

Not true at all. He did campaign on "repeal and replace" but he is on record during a debate as saying there are parts of it that might stay.

SOP...they all do that.

Means nothing...someone in the campaign though it would be a good idea so they went through the procedures to see if it would even be a possibility then Senior Staff ultimately decides against it. Happens every day in campaign world and is not an indication of bigger panics.

I have been at winning election nights with confetti cannons paid for, locked and loaded and the decision was made at the last second by senior staff not to fire off.

So if it were a Trump bus, what do you think the media would have done?  Don't you think the party of uber environmentalism (fascism) should be more careful when they hire contractors?  How are they at selecting, and running subcontractors when they are in power, like they are now?

So the stupid actions of one low paid contracted bus driver makes for a moral statement of an entire political party?...that is where the problem lies with sensationalism tabloid media...but that is all people pay attention to.

I love how people think that the actions of a third party contractor represent the moral views of an entire organization. These bus companies drive for everyone and are just hired guns. The dumb arse contracted XYZ bus company dumped it, not the DNC or a DNC employee. Stupid, yes...but equally stupid to imply the DNC knowingly dumped it.

I worked a campaign a while back and anti-campaign wrapped bus full of protestors shows up at our event. Bus pulls into the parking lot and they all get off and start their chant. I block the buss with a vehicle to keep it from going further in essentially pinning him in. Bus driver comes up to me and says..."look, all these dumb asses are off my bus and I am just a hired gun, can I get my bus outta here?"..."Yup, we are both in the same boat...as long as you pull it off the property so I can get back to work as well" and off he went.

OH MY GOD...AN ACTOR HAS AN OPINION!

Why is this even a story?

I have worked with actors...they are just other people. Regardless of your position...who cares!

Heard a great talking head point...while it was the right decision to shoot to kill, it did not need to happen. It is a systemic cultural shift that safety and responsibility is now somehow the job of industry and government rather than both personal and COMMUNITY responsibility. If another adult had grabbed that kid, we live in a society where mom would have screamed bloody murder...NOT at the kid, but the person stepping in, so why get involved? We can not protect everyone from every conceivable incident..and if so to what end...line the streets with barriers so that kids do not run out and get hit by cars?

I admit that the equipment list has me really considering this one and the other Q models on Controller aren't comparable at this price point.

So here is what sold me on my plane even though it had a "run out" engine...I took the price I figured I could negotiate the plane to in its current state and added the cost of a rebuild and started comparing planes in that total price range...and even though I did not want to spent that total higher amount right then, I was still not finding a plane as equipped and as nice as I would end up with at that higher price point.

Three years later engine is till going strong and I got way more plane than I was expecting I would have even though I was and am prepared for that rebuild any time.
