Spin Zone / Re: The real threat

I wish I knew the answer.  The forces of evil are very strong, and getting stronger and bolder.  They are no longer content to hide in the shadows and work their immoral acts.  They are out in the light and destroying this country with wild abandon.  And they are being cheered on by idiots.

Well indoctrinated.

^^^^^^^This. All unwatchable. I'd rather watch a Dr. Who episode with Tom Baker.
I watched Tom Baker when he was on originally and thought it was pretty great.  Now I go back and it's unwatchable.  Not quite sure why... it just didn't hold up.  The ones with Jodie Whittaker are good.  Dr. Who with Ncuti Gatwa was horrible.  Not only is he awful as Dr. Who, but the writing is terrible. Only watched part of one episode.  Glad he's gone.  Bring back David Tennant, or Capaldi.  Smith is OK.

I used to really like NOVA.  Kind of forgot all about it.  Most shows like it have gone full climate change emergency no matter what the topic so I lose interest pretty quickly.

Spin Zone / Re: Fake Conservatism
« on: November 06, 2025, 08:47:32 AM »
What is a conservative?  Strip it of all the random bullshit.  A conservative (in the U.S.) wants to conserve the founding principles of the U.S. which is limited government and economic freedom.  Private property rights, free market capitalism and a civic system based on English Common Law.  Okay, we'll tolerate that French shit down in Louisiana.

That's it!  You can also throw in social conservatism like being against gay marriage but that's peripheral. The important thing is the economic and civic structure, without which the nation collapses into starvation and tyrrany.

I realize Cuomo isn't a conservative either but to favor an outright communist over him is to betray any semblance of conservatism.

I also realize many who call themselves conservatives are NOT. They're happy to grow government, overregulate free markets, etc.
I consider myself a fiscal conservative as you so clearly described above.  But also somewhat more socially liberal (in the classical sense).  Live and let live.  Marry whoever or whatever you want.  Have consensual sex with whoever or whatever you want.  I don't care.  Just keep it private.  I don't know what that makes me with the fiscal / social philosophical split.

I sincerely hope that those in NY City get what they voted for.

I'm greatly saddened by Scott's illness.  He's been a big part of my daily life for many, many years.  I hope that he can find remission, or at least comfort.

I believe you might be right.  Hopefully, it is a wake-up call.
The Republicans are experts at pulling defeat out of the mouth of victory.  I fear that it will not be a wake up call, and democrats running on "not Trump" but with nothing else of substance will take the House and Senate.  And then, God help us.  This was a very off-year election with democrat wins in mostly democrat areas so it will be easy for Republicans to brush it off as a nothing.  They do this at their own peril.

Yep. Their end game is Authoritarian Totalitarian rule. The promise of Utopia is just a means to that end.
And yet the sheep continue to believe their promises.  Despite centuries of them not doing what they promise.  And that's on both sides.  The democrats (and some republicans) are pissed off at Trump simply because he DOES do what he promises.

The democrats are using all the happy fluffy words that appeal to the low information voters.  They say that they want:

Abolition of private property
Classless society
Government control
Collective ownership

All that sounds good with everyone being equal, no rich, no poor, everyone happily working for the common good, no property ownership which means no rent, no mortgage, and you can live anywhere you want for free.  Yes, that's the democrat end game utopia.  But the above is also the definition of communism.  And what inevitably happens is a few elite get everything, everyone else gets nothing, the great producers of society get nothing for production and no incentive for innovation so they stop.  Then the swift decline into sleeping in filth and eating rats.  This is making the movie "Escape from New York" a reality.

kind of like the thinking that giving people handouts helps the poor?
The hand that feeds people can also starve people.

The redistricting that the democrats are doing is their last gasp of trying to retain control.  California has 40% republicans yet essentially no republican US representatives.  Same with the northeast of the country where they've done it so long that they can't squeeze away any more republican districts.  California is doing it to "preserve democracy" because Texas did it.  But Texas did it to follow very old state law (I think), not out of spite to get rid of democrat districts.

Trump never stops.  The triumphal visit to Japan, then off to Asia.  One great deal for the US after another.  Great contrast to the democrats bashing the US while keeping the government closed, and the delaware state vegetable lying at the beach for half his term.  I finally figured it out... FJB really resembles spargle, that white limp variety of German asparagus.  But I truly hope that I have as much energy as Trump has when I get to his age.

Men may use clear nail polish as a makeshift bandaid on an open wound, in a pinch, but that’s it.
I'm more likely to have superglue than nail polish around where I'm likely to cut myself.  But nail polish whether clear or colored... no way!

Same story in many other African countries, the Caribbean, South America, Middle East, etc. That's what the Democrats want here.
Throw in some North Korea and East Germany.  Anything other than the official party line is swiftly suppressed.  The democrat party has an amazing unity of thought.

I know we’re all about intelligent discussion, but … really, will Biden even HAVE a library? I feel like the 2020 steal may actually be exposed.
Probably like the Obama library where nothing will be available to view and it's all locked down.  Like his real birth certificate and college transcripts.
