Spin Zone / Re: To football players who take a knee
« on: October 15, 2017, 03:23:41 PM »
I’m a Chicago Blackhawks fan. Have you been to the United Center? Check out what happens during the National Anthem. It might make your conservative heads pop.

Seeing what gets the hard right all hot and bothered is quite telling. A bunch of athletes kneeling (another word for that could be genuflecting) doesn’t get me worked up or make me lose sleep. Let these guys have their quiet protest. It’s only gotten more media coverage because POTUS decided to make it an issue. Pure distraction. This story was on its way to the briar patch and would have fizzled on its own, kind of like it did last season. Only now, the VP kept it alive with his insertion into the fray.

Again, keeping the focus on distractions.

And, like good little minions, it has their loyal supporters all riled up in fake patriotism and mock rage. The opposition is sufficiently distracted from real problems because they can’t resist any attempt to make this administration look bad.

So...mission accomplished!
What the fuck are you talking about?  I was a Blackhawks season ticket holder from 1985-1993 and 2006-2011. The National Anthem in the United Center is the ultimate celebration of patriotism.  It started in about 1985, and gained new life in the first game after the start of the first Gulf War in 1991.  It has carried through in every home game since then.

As for genuflecting, knock off that bullshit. Genuflecting is a sign of respect and honor. Those who kneel at the national anthem are demonstrating disrespect and dishonor, of the ONE moment in a sporting event that is supposed to bring us all together as Americans.

I for one have no use for overpaid snowflakes who consider themselves more important than anyone else.  Screw them all.

After cursory reading, it sounds like the baker in question denied baking a cake based on anti-discrimination laws in the state of Colorado. How did anyone find out why the baker denied services?

It sounds like SCOTUS will hear the case, so we will find out if a first amendment claim can supercede a state's anti discrimination law. Should be entertaining to see how it plays out.
Should be entertaining as hell when the baker goes bankrupt after paying the legal fees necessary to bring a case all the way up to SCOTUS, all because the plaintiff didn't move on and chose a baker happy and willing to make them a cake.

Did you see that Aaron Hernandez had stage 3 CTE?
It shouldn't be bothering him any more.

So you can get past your anger, think about it and understand it from another perspective.  Try my shoes on for a day or two.

But then again you got me wondering....(see post #7 and below)
What?  Oh boo hoo.  I've never known a Marine to play the victim. Ever.  Everyone has a story. Everyone. But most of us just move on to try and make tomorrow a better day.

Whatever these disrespectful protests are supposed to represent - and if you take Kappernick at his word, the protests are against this country - then there is nothing that can be done to fix their issues in our lifetimes.

In the mean time, the players, with the consent of the league and the owners, have taken the single most unifying thing provided by sports and turned it into a divisive slap in the face to the majority of the very same customers that pay their bills. It's moronic.

It is amazing what Jay and Mary Honeck have been fighting down in Port Aransas to get their hotel rebuilt.  The went to Lowes today to see about cabinets and were told they will have to pull permits to have new cabinets installed.  The crap they went through today over getting the roof replaced was incredible.  They are just trying to get their business up and running again. Their insurance will only cover 6 months of lost revenue.  They also went to see about applying for FEMA aid and ended up in a long line that led to a phone bank so they could call and make an appointment.  I think, no matter how the folks at the top think things are working the bureaucrats will always make things harder than they need to be.
Which is obviously why we MUST turn all of our healthcare into single payer run by the US Government. I mean, they do everything else so well.....

No I didn't get your humor, I'd taken you in concert with all the other outlandishly racist things you've said in the past and assumed it was par for course. But if you've changed your spots excuse me while I bask in my skepticism.
You're the first person ever to call me racist. I suspect it is your reflexive distaste when someone points out issues that exist in the black community, and you'd rather attack the messenger than deal with the truth.  Typical.

I was searching for specific info on the B35 Bo and one of the google hits was this plane est at $815,000! That is one costly old plane...
"Honey, the plane isn't selling. The market must be soft. To keep it in good shape I need to keep flying it, but it will sell soon. Don't worry."

Yes, it is a symbol of "Black Power" to offset the "racist" former mayor of Philly, Frank Rizzo's statue that's been there for decades, yet all of a sudden must be "offset" by this Afro Pick.

What they need is a statue of a brother with his pants around his thighs and hand on his crotch and his other hand on a gat about to pop a cap in someone's ass.

Spin Zone / Re: 'No one is above the law': John McCain
« on: August 29, 2017, 07:02:59 AM »
This whole thing is pretty rich coming from a guy who was accused of showing incredibly poor judgement, who failed to properly report AND pay back 'gifts' from wealthy donors seeking favor from the House, who was nearly hammered by the House Ethics committee and whose primary lack of prosecution stems from breaking the rules as a Congressman and then getting elected Senator such that neither body claimed responsibility for holding him accountable.

Fast forward to the Keating 5 and he began his long history of self-preservation at any cost and being a media darling who just happens to be at or very near the center of most leak scandals, especially those that damage his reportedly 'fellow' Republicans.

I have grown to the point I cannot stand McCain, he is a reliable fellow traveller for the Left, and a dangerous but utterly predictable self-centered fake bestie to the Republicans.  His response to being tainted by Keating 5 was to join with Russ Feingold to try and control the money flowing into politics, instead of controlling the behavior of the despicable congresscritters themselves - literally rewriting long standing concepts of freedom of speech to remove the temptation rather than force politicians to behave ethically.

He cannot retire to attend to his health fast enough.

'Gimp
^^^^^This!

As for McCain/Feingold anti-first amendment legislation, you are spot on. He basically said that Congress can't be controlled, to which I say to McCain and others:  "quit, and go fuck yourself."

I'll be honest, I've been ignoring politics as much as possible lately. That being said, I watched the speech, and I thought it was excellent. He acknowledged and explained his change in position from pulling out to this new strategy (still waiting to see that from one other politician), and I sense the new strategy will save American lives by changing the ROE, and putting significant pressure on Pakistan and India to do some heavy lifting.

Spin Zone / Re: Russia?
« on: August 21, 2017, 04:24:55 PM »
Saul Alinsky, and Cloward Piven are very accurate depictions of what we are seeing.  The false "Russia" story didn't work.  They didn't have facts, evidence, nor truth on their side.  People got tired of hearing the same old baseless accusations.  So they tie Trump to the Neo Nazis, and KKK because he didn't come out against them fast enough.  All we hear from the media now is how Trump is a RACIST!!!

There were many economic reasons for the Civil War, only one of which is slavery.  I do believe the Feds wanted to make the South succumb and strike a huge blow to state's rights.  They succeeded.  The statues that are being torn down, and removed are an attempt by the Liberal/Progressives to re-write history, and wield power over those in which they disagree.  This is a statement of POWER over free expression, and power over our history.  We need to fight back.  How?  Keep electing non-establishment candidates.

My question is why now?  Why remove statues that are over 100 years old in many cases?  I think I know the answer, but would like other's perspective.
Because for the past eight years they were way too busy completely changing our culture and limiting our liberty to worry about things like statues.  Plus, the Civil War is obviously Trump's fault. Duh.

So do you have an alternative if you were to advise the president?  These people succeeded in character assassination of probably the best human being to run for office (Mitt Romney - not my candidate, but I believe to be a good, kind person) and danced on his grave. What makes you think they would do ANYTHING differently to ANYONE who is running with an R after their name?

According to folks hereabouts, if the fucking Nazis come marching into my neighborhood and I go out and yell at them, I'm just as bad as them.  According to folks here I have to meekly stay in my house and let Nazis, KKK members, white supremacists and bigots of all stripes do whatever they please wherever they want.
Only if you believe in freedom of speech, the First Amendment, and Voltaire's famous quote:  "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

Sadly, you don't, along with the other anarchists who wish to silence people with which you disagree.

Good thing you don't teach civics.

Keep an eye out and look for it - this is all lurching toward the future mistreatment of white/christian/republican/southerners, justified because they are all racist bigots.  The irony of it happening is lost on the left.

I have already see a post suggesting that they just hack off the country below the Mason Dixon line and let those ignorant rednecks go about their racist ways...
What is so unbelievably stunning to me is people that I know and trust - not talking heads, not activists - actively seeing something 180 degrees different than the way I see them. To ascribe the views of the Nazis and white supremacists on Trump, and in turn his voters, based on what he said or didn't say, or didn't say fast enough, is mind-bogglingly stupid and frightening.

The hypnotism of the American public by the MSM is nearly complete.
