Sounds like a bunch of cry babies because their candidate, also a cry baby, wasn't prepared to work to secure delegates. Boo hoo.

Excellent question.  I'm guessing that there's a big moral imperative to let dudes into girls bathrooms.

Are you talking about Nazis, Japs, or ISIS?? If you are talking about ISIS, this concept is ridiculous. There is no bargaining table. You seem to think they will give up if you kill their women and children. Nope. They will fight on and more will join.

If you want to beat ISIS, you beat them by being smarter, not more violent. More violent is what they expect from us and what they want from us. The more violent we are, the stronger they get. The best way to beat ISIS, is to not play their media PR game. ISIS is the  newest monster of the internet/media era. It's about gamesmanship, not scorched earth.
So what does that mean "being smarter?"  Do you think turning your back on hem will keep them in the ME, never to attack Western civilization?

I agree with Anthony. Ignore the Nazis, as the German population was not fanatical, and was more Western. But what about Japan?  After their surrender after brutal attacks on their mainland, and after the 12-year occupation, MacArthur said "The Japanese people, since the war, have undergone the greatest reformation recorded in modern history."

I think we have a roadmap for how to change history for a brutal group of people, and it starts with beating them into submission.

Would you insist on getting checked out as PIC in a VC-25?
Absolutely. And not SIC either. Left seat or nothing.

In fact, I'd get type ratings in a B-52, B-1, B-2, F-15, and the SR-71.

Oh yea, the SR-71 is coming out of mothballs and we're going to be doing speed runs over the US and Russian airspace.

By 2020 the last 310 Tea Party members have been rounded up and executed in Oregon, Washington, California, and New York. President Clinton promises to eradicate all Tea Party subversives before the end of her fourth term.

I guess it is good to be hiding out in flyover country.

Yet it's the people who are doing the reelecting.  Unless the purpose of the constitution is to protect the people from themselves by imposing term limits, the people are getting the government that they choose.  And perhaps also what they deserve.
The Founders were brilliant in devising the bicameral-type of legislative branch. The House was popularly elected, and thus had 2-year terms.

The Senate, on the other hand, was designed to represent the States, under the theory that the States form the Union, and thus should have a major say in its government. The People are also closest to their States' legislatures, under the theory that all politics are local.

Now after the 17th Amendment, we have TWO popularly-elected bodies in Congress, with the only difference being the number of them, and their terms. This makes little sense, but has embedded more power in the Federal government and devolved power away from the States. Not good IMO.

Are you saying all of the lies and half truths, even when backed up with facts, are simply not true?
I'm saying you are a hypocrite and have selective outrage.

Maybe we'll get lucky and have it locked down for 535 suspicious characters until January 2017.

This group is trying:

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/03/29/states-rights-advocates-eye-convention-to-bypass-congress-amend-constitution.html

I wish them luck on a Constitutional Convention
It's actually a Convention of States, and not a Constitutional Convention. There's a big difference.

I'm active in this movement in Wisconsin, and have met with my state Senator Chris Kapenga, who sponsored a bill two years ago when he was in the Assembly to authorize the participation in the Convention of the States. Unfortunately, it died in the Senate because of some senators who were involved with the John Birch Society, who are against the Convention of the States.

Senator Kapenga is representing the state in the Assembly of State Legislatures (www.TheASL.org). The ASL is formulating rules to ensure a solid process is available at a Convention.

I favor about 7 Amendments, but Chris thinks that only a Balanced Budget Amendment is likely to get through the Convention.

But one thing is true: a Convention of the States absolutely bypasses Congress, and that's a very good thing.

Those that define themselves as "True" Conservatives are indeed a minority.  They are the ones that have a moral opinion and believe that everyone should bow to their opinions.  They would rather get nothing than to compromise and get something.

But there are a lot of us "Mostly" Conservatives.  We (actually, I'm speaking for myself here) believe in conservative government spending, but we also believe in providing a safety net for the sick, the injured and the unfortunate.  That does not include the lazy or those that choose not to be a productive citizen.

We believe that it is better to compromise so that both sides get something (win-win) rather than to stand firm, like a mule so that both sides lose.

We don't think the USA should be the world's police, but we do believe in helping people that need help.  That includes victims of groups like ISIS and Boko Haram.

We think that the US should maintain a standing army that can defend us against all aggressors.

We do believe in American exceptionalism.  We are fortunate to live in a vast country with vast natural resources, and we have a Constitution that allows our citizens to display that exceptionalism.

And we do believe in the Constitution.  It is not a "living breathing evolving" document, but parts of it were written somewhat vague on purpose.  And even where the document is specific, it was often the result of a compromise.  The founders didn't all agree on every part of it.  They realized that if they didn't make some compromises, they would never produce a final copy.

We do believe that the Federal Government has certain responsibilities, but we believe that the Federal Government has usurped more responsibility and power than was intended, or that is productive.  The Federal government has become a behemoth that is holding us back more than it is helping.

And we believe in paying taxes.  But we believe that the TEA party was just a little mistaken.  We are not "taxed enough already"; we are taxed (at the Federal Level) way too much.  We should cut our Federal taxes deeply, but expect that our State and Local taxes may increase (if the States and Cities decide that is what they want).  If my State or City becomes to burdensome, then I can move and still stay in this great country.

And finally, we also believe that we need laws and regulations.  But we need them to keep some people from preying on other people.  We don't need regulations to try to manage our every day living and our every day business practices.

Call me a RINO if you wish.  I call myself a Republican because the choices are limited.  But I don't think that you have to agree with every plank in the Republican party  to be a part of the party.  That is why "True Conservatives" appear to be such a tiny minority.
Sorry, but I'm going to have to pick some nits on this post.

First, very little of what you said is inconsistent with what I would call Conservative.

I suspect you have gotten caught up with the derision foisted upon Conservatives and the Tea Party movement by liberals, an example of which responded favorably to your assertion that "True" Conservatives are a small (and presumably dying) minority.

As for A "True" Conservative, that is an undefined term. I would call a True Conservative to be a Constitutional Conservative, and again, your take on the Constitution is the Conservative one.

As for the Tea Party, I take it you weren't really involved in the movement. I was, from the start. The Tea Party is for a smaller, limited, Constitutional government. Smaller means, yes, living within your means, and starving the beast. That means less taxes, but by no means was that the sole focus of the movement.

As for compromise, I think nothing in the Constitution can be compromised. That includes the Separation of Powers, the Bill of Rights, and the rest of it. If you want to change it, the Judiciary has no right to do so. There are two ways to change it, and those ways are included in the document. That's it.

Beyond that, the "no compromise" argument against "True" Conservatives is a canard.

Spin Zone / Re: Where are the Pro-Kasich, Pro-Cruz posts?
« on: March 25, 2016, 11:37:12 AM »

I have posted several articles that were either pro-Trump or discussed the specifics of why he is seeing the support he is seeing.  Zero discussion, which is interesting to me.  But the anti-Trump stuff go on and on and on.

Should I have said 'new thread'?  I thought is was obvious.

I am trying to shift this to a positive discussion instead of the seemingly endless harping on about whatever the LeftMedia complex and RINO Establishment has decided we are supposed to be offended about Trump today.

Clarifying, this is a challenge for Pro-Kasich or Pro-Cruz folks to seek out and post positive things to discuss about their guy like I have been trying to do.

Even in this reply though, still taking a dig at Trump - I want to see if we can elevate the conversation from 'anti' to 'pro' or at least see some discussion about the other candidates.

'Gimp

My point in my snarky response is that I think  you are ignoring what I and others have already said about Cruz, and seem to be implying that us Cruz supporters don't have valid reasons to support our candidate. That was my take on it at least.

When I do point out things such as the general election chances of Cruz over Trump, you and lucifer belittle them and dismiss them. Same when I post some National Review article supporting Cruz; lucifer calls it trash GOP establishment journalism. So what's the point?

My support for my candidate is based upon my beliefs of him as a Constitutional Conservative, which is principles-based and which doesn't lend itself to flavor-of-the-day website articles, especially in an environment where one celebrity candidate is sucking the oxygen out of the room.

Cruz must be dead-man-walking on Fox, as he's rarely on compared to wall-to-wall Trump nightly interviews.  That's fine. Good for Trump.  But that leads to less coverage of Cruz.

I moved about 5 miles away to a new house.  Same City, Same Zip.
I changed my address with credit cards, driver's license, auto registration, magazines, FAA, health insurance . . .

It was that last one that pissed me off.  It wasn't my insurance company, but they said I also had to change my address with the Market Place.

I always hate using that web site so I decided to call them  I was on hold for around 4 minutes, and the entire call took around 18 minutes (the iphone reports total time).  Just to change my address they had to ask a million questions, including whether I was currently incarcerated, of any anyone in my family was incarcerated.  I had to listen to several very long disclaimers about how it is a Federal crime to use the system fraudulently and I had to agree each time.  They had to verify that my name is the same as on my SS card (which I haven't seen in 30 years).  The questions just went on and on.

We paid some telephone operator a quarter of an hour pay to change one address.  That might only be a few bucks, but how many times a day does that get repeated.  And why do they need to know if I am in jail in order to change my address?

I had to ask myself "WTF is the Market Place" until I read the rest payout thread and figured it out.

Is there any longer any question that the Affordable Care Act had absolutely nothing to do with affordability or care?

It certainly has created a bitter and divided population, but to this point I don't know if state sanctioned abortion has been a bargaining chip in any serious political negotiation.

You haven't heard the screaming about the right needing to "compromise"?

It's not sufficient for the left to have won the war in Roe v Wade, wherein next to nothing can be done to legally limit abortions.

No. The left now wants the right to abandon any mention of the word abortion. They want the right to fully accept and celebrate the right of a mother to kill her baby. And if we don't embrace it wholly and completely, we are the out-of-touch radical Christians who are on par in their minds with radical Islamists.

See, you support the latter part of the equation but not the former.  A liberal will be around next to support the former but not the latter.  Hence, the win-win.

Not if you're the baby.

Is this what we've come to?  A baby's life is a political bargaining chip?

It kinda sounded like the guy wanted to make the point about capital gains taxes, but confused it with general income taxes...

In any case, fuck Stuart Varney.  He's a Hannity or a Limbaugh with a cool accent.

Why, because Varney puts forth a logical argument that can't be refuted by a liberal?

Boo fucking hoo.
