Spin Zone / Re: So, Giuliani was the puppet master

The crime?  5 CFR § 2635.702 - Use of public office for private gain.

 https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/25/11.448
Yet the House in its 658 page Impeachment Report never cited that Code, or any CFR for that matter. Why do you think that is?

It’s because even the House knows that that dog don’t hunt.

Try again.

Spin Zone / Trump Letter to Pelosi
« on: December 18, 2019, 09:58:39 AM »
I know lucifer posted this in a different thread, but I thought I’d start one just regarding “the letter.”  I thought it was an epic letter putting into the official record Trump’s own defense of the office, and ridicule of the process.

Are you glad he wrote it?

Spin Zone / Re: Will the Revolution begin in Virginia......
« on: December 18, 2019, 08:31:02 AM »
My stepson told me last night that law enforcement in around 90 counties in Virginia declared sanctuary from the new laws and won’t enforce them, based on 2A. Then the commie left drafted laws to fire any LEO who didn’t enforce.

He said from some websites he reads that the “civil war” we bandy about is moving in Virginia from “get ready” to “locate your targets.”

I fear, though, that violence from the right is what the left is desperately trying to generate. Their belief that the right is violent will be affirmed, and the 2A hammers will come down forever.

Seriously, they’re talking about which politicians to take out. Vince Flynn stuff, and scary.

And of course, the libbies don’t think what it might mean to live in a state where you’ve fired all law enforcement.
Yet THIS is how tyranny started in Germany, and elsewhere. People say it can’t happen here. Why not?  My dad fought in WWII against this tyranny, and killed men in pursuit of this.

I truly hope it doesn’t become violent, but if Virginians don’t put a stop to unconstitutional tyranny, where will it stop?

For decades democrats have told us that “we don’t want to take your guns” or “I believe in the second amendment, but..”, or my favorite about “common sense gun laws.”

Yet, the MINUTE democrats get complete control of all branches of the Virginia government, they proceed with pursuing a gun confiscation scheme.

Can we not see that this is the canary in the coal mine if democrats get the presidency and control of the legislative branch?

Isn’t it great to have a President that gives it right back to them?
Definitely a counter puncher. I read it and I really like it. He put his defense straight on the record.

Giuliani may have just crashed the 2020 election for Trump.  I think I'm early on this, but I've already started to see others pick up on it.
From CNN, MSNBC, and Bill Kristol I presume?

Rape, murder, burglary and robbery YES. I disagree with the bill to eliminate life without parole. That’s crazy! Chris Watts has life without parole for killing his wife and babies and stuffing his babies into oil tanks. This bitch would change the law so he could some day get out. That’s nuts!

I reluctantly agree eliminate death penalty but only because of rampant widespread prosecutorial misconduct. A wrongly convicted person always has a chance of being exonerated as long as they’re alive.

But for lesser crimes and so called victimless crimes, here’s the problem with your statement “if you can’t do the time don’t do the crime”, it’s not just the convict who is punished, it’s his family. His lost income, damages relationships. His woman moves on. He loses years of his kids lives and the kids lose their father or mother, that lost time causes irreparable damage.

It damages society. While you are in prison the world moves on without you and when you get out, you’re behind. You have to catch up with technology and other changes. Having a record severely damages your ability to get a job. This is one of the things Trump’s law is addressing, helping these guys reintegrate. But it would be better if they never went in the first place, especially for something as stupid as being caught with a bag of weed.

Many are youth, stupid youth, who don’t yet realize long term consequences of their actions. If they kill someone that’s different, put them away forever just to protect the rest of us. But we are ruining lives over pot. A thing way less dangerous than legal alcohol for chrissakes.
But we aren’t putting people in jail for pot. It doesn’t happen, unless it’s in conjunction with something like a car jacking or something.

I spoke to a judge in Milwaukee and he he told me that virtually no one goes to jail for a first or a second and often a third felony, because there is no room. And drug possession (unless you’re a dealer) typically isn’t a felony. They don’t even jail these kids doing their 2nd car jacking for Christ’s sake.

I would make many drugs legal.  It is just another excuse for a huge, expensive, over controlling bureaucracy.  It isn't working.  People still not only use, but use more than ever.  So we put them in jail, and it costs more money.  Then they get drugs in jail through the corrupt jail employees, then get out and continue drug use.  So what's solved?
We don’t put drug users in jail for their drug use. We don’t have the room, and it’s rarely a felony. That’s a canard used by the left.

We do put drug dealers in jail, and they may be users themselves.

No wonder Richard Trumka is all in support of USMCA.

I did a search and found something about it.

They symbol looked to me like the "OK" symbol.  I never saw it as a white power symbol.  I don't even know what a "white power" symbol looks like.  But I do know what a "black power" symbol looks like and I never hear much complaining about that.
I refuse to play the game that SJWs are doing. Redefining normal signs, words or actions as being racist or -phobic is their attempt to steal societal norms for their own purposes. Fuck them.

Sitting in the Philadelphia airport, they have these newfangled iPads you order your food instead of talking to a real human anyway you can read news and so I read all the MSM and saw that.

First of all, I swear to God this is true!  I have written Trump at least twice on this subject. A year or so ago and just last week!  I said, you need to get the black vote, you need to turn the black vote back around, not just for yourself in 2020 but for the salvation of this nation.

Lo and behold, what do I see today in the news?   YET AGAIN Trump seems to react to ME. It’s uncanny. It is surreal. Never in my life has a president been so responsive to what the actual people want - because I know it’s not just me - not lobbyists, not corporations or organizations or activists but little individual people like me. He must be reading all these opinions he solicits via email and gosh darn it, he responds.
When the toilet lady speaks, Trump listens!

Spin Zone / Re: PoA does it again.

The private pilot community is very small relative to other interests among the population so the same people tend to congregate in just a few forums. And these people get together in real life, have real relationships, so saying, “if you don’t like a policy just go elsewhere there are forums to talk about politics,” does not apply. It’s not an interchangeable set of strangers.

It all started around 1998 or pretty much the beginning of forums in general, when the first forums were started by real life friends and lovers even. Amongst these, there became a division between people who want to discuss politics (on both liberal and conservative side) and people who do not, and those who do not include a subset who want only aviation discussed. The attempt to contain political debate of the first group by the second group has been happening ever since, and it evolved over the years to become ever more restrictive until finally, on the AOPA board 2.0 (the Red Board) the subset who wanted only airplane talk won. That board banned ALL subjects not related to aviation and as a result slowly withered and died.

It was a progression starting with complete freedom of speech and ending with very tightly controlled speech. So pilotspin came full circle back to where we started, with the first group of people who want complete freedom to say anything. And from here, we are watching the PoA board like a replay of history, as it becomes ever more heavy handed in restricting what other people can talk about. And ironically the PoA board had spun off from the AOPA board when it became too restrictive. It’s like watching the United States become autocratic after we spun off from King George.

And it is all an outgrowth of real life relationships. It does not matter that technically so’n’so owns the board so they can set the rules. It’s like this: Picture a family get together. Some like to talk politics but others do not. After dinner they congregate in separate rooms. Daddy and some relatives who want to talk politics are in the living room while mommy and those who don’t are in the kitchen talking about casseroles or whatever. Little Johnny is in the kitchen and says, “President Trump came to my school today!”  And mommy says, “You know the rule Johnny, no political talk in the kitchen!” And she puts him over her knee and spanks him.

Mommy might set the rules in the kitchen but she is still being a controlling bitch. Daddy cares what happens in the kitchen because he used to be allowed to talk politics in the kitchen but now mommy has changed the rules. New people marry into the family and side with one or the other so the groups evolve over the years, but the core dynamic is the same: mommy’s group wants to control and limit what daddy’s group talks about. Remember, in the very beginning there were no separate sub forums. “Mommy’s” group wanted to control speech everywhere. That is the historical source of what you sense we won’t let go; we rightly remember that these people are actually control freaks. That’s why their moderation tends to grow tighter and tighter with time. We’ve run this race before and we’ve seen how it ends. Mommy is never happy until daddy is kicked out of the house and nobody can talk about anything except casseroles.
Wow, Rush. This is a PERFECT synopsis of the history of aviation forums, and the creeping and CHANGING level moderation-cum-tyranny.  I’ve seen the exact same progression.

That’s essentially what I was highlighting in my original comment.  I don’t really care if those here want to create a weekly “How PoA Hurt My Feelings” thread, makes no difference to me.  I was just curious why there seemed to be so much focus on what PoA members do or how their mods react.  Especially on a site which essentially was created by PoA members who ran off when they couldn’t adhere to the PoA forum rules (SZ spilling into regular forums).

Sent from my iPhone . Squirrel!!
Not true. PS was created not because some of us couldn’t adhere to the “forum rules.”  We left because they closed the SZ, in large part because rules were selectively and arbitrarily applied.

I haven’t participated in this thread much because I’ve never been a back to POA since they dropped the SZ, and I couldn’t care less about them.

But I agree with lucifer; if it bothers you that people are ridiculing the moderation and moderators sufficient for you to come on this thread and make that an issue, isn’t that equally petulant?
