Spin Zone / Re: Iran siezes two USN boats

The story seems to be that the engines failed and the boats drifted into Iranian territory.  Two engines failed at the same time?   :-\
I had read somewhere this morning that they ran out of gas.  ::)

I wonder if any of them are Pilots.   ::)

The mayor did piss of the Police Chief and he's started releasing a lot of information that make the Mayor look like a fool.

Look like?

Being retired, this is something I worry about all the time.  I left part of my IRA money with Chase to manage.  While it is still up from where it started, if the market continues a downward trend I'll have a decision to make.  Chase won't be happy as they're making good money off of it.

Uh oh, I guess I left my guard down and gave Eppya glimpse of my clairvoyant abilities. Silly me.

What did I miss?

Let's add to the question.  Assuming we did some or all of the things suggested here, do you think it is actually possible to dig out of the debt hole we are now in?  Do you hold any hope that we will ever head in a direction that will get us there or are we just screwed?

Based on Dave8or's call for civil discussion, I thought I would pose the question above.  Personally, I feel we are in deep shit and need to do something to bring things back in line.  Do we need a balanced budget amendment?  Would that really do anything other than cause Congress to crank up revenues (taxes) to keep spending?  What are your ideas?  I'm a fan of the Fair Tax and at the very least feel the current system is so broken that it needs to be torn down and start over.

It cannot be made any clearer:  The discussion is here to be had, your opinion and input are valuable, but you can back out anytime if something offends you.  A better approach would be to ignore, or just critically scan, the comments of the person who has offended you.  There may still be something valuable in other things they have to say.

Everyone here seems to misunderstand me. I'm not offended. I don't identify as a liberal, so it doesn't bother me personally. I also don't believe in putting anyone on "ignore". It's silly.

The point of my original response was a request that maybe we start this forum off as a more intelligent place than the old Spin Zone was and try to refrain from name calling, insults and gross generalizations. The old Spin Zone was often just a school yard squabble with no real argument, but just contradiction and insults.

Anyhow, the suggestion seems to have fallen on deaf ears. It seems the freedom to insult people is held more dear than the ideal of a good debate. So be it. Like I have said, I'm not here to censor anybody (even if I could) or go all touchy feely PC on people. I can play the school yard way too, but I fear it will get boring, turn people off once the loudest bullies take over and this site will never get any bigger, or better.

I'm with you.

Spin Zone / Re: My God, Did POA Just Become as Boring as AOPA?
« on: January 02, 2016, 07:59:49 AM »

See ya. You should be protected from having hurt feelings or hearing ideas that didn't come from HuffPo over there. Enjoy.

That's a good point.  Liberal/Progressives don't like to have their ideas and views challenged because ultimately they can not defend them so resort to emotion and name calling.  Their "hurt feelings" caused POA to close SZ.

It's even worse than that, though. Look at how the liberal progressives seek to shut up, shout down, and physically disrupt opposing voices. It's NOT ENOUGH just to turn off Rush, not attend an Ann Coulter or Michael Savage speech on a college campus, switch the channel from Fox or The Blaze, or not go into the Spin Zone. They seek to SHUT THEM ALL DOWN.

And in the case of POA, the liberal/progressives have succeeded.  Cowardly fucking pussies.

How do you really feel?

The disturbing photograph shows a migrant climbing onto a truck sitting in a queue and brandishing a hammer in the face of its terrified driver. It was taken as hundreds of migrants "armed with iron bars and hammers" stormed the port and Channel Tunnel entrances in an "unprecedented" mass attempt to reach Britain.
