Trump is a complete amateur, a professional celebrity and little more. He has placed mostly fellow amateurs in key positions around him. I suspect the damage will be limited. While his foreign policy will be a disaster I think the foreign leaders will soon learn to ignore him.
Actually, he is a lot more. He is the leader of a multi-billion dollar company. I know that being a CEO gets poo-pooed by the leftist elites as being an overpaid stuffed shirt, but I think it's because they don't understand the work or the responsibility. It's an enormous amount to do.
I think his foreign policy will be to do what benefits the United States at home. Our foreign policy for the past 15 years has been the failure. Progressives decided that it was possible to stabilize foreign countries by turning them into open democracies, thereby making them "better". They thought that if we transferred enough American wealth and opportunity to the rest of the world then they would stop hating us so much.
I could be really negative about Donald Trump, focus on his lack of government experience, his temperament and try to sabotage every thing that is said about him. But instead, I choose to be hopeful that he will grow into being a good president and that he will do what is best for the country. He will make some mistakes, everyone does because there is no job training for being President...nobody comes into the office prepared to do it.
