Spin Zone / Re: Joke Thread: Post 'em if ya got 'em
« on: October 25, 2022, 06:27:06 PM »
A boy went up to his father and asked him, “Dad, what is the difference between ‘potentially’ and ‘realistically’?” The father thought for a moment, then answered, “Go ask your mother if she would sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars. Then ask your sister if she would sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars, and then, ask your brother if he'd sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars. Come back and tell me what you learn from that.”
So, the boy went to his mother and asked, “Would you sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars?” The mother replied, “Of course, I would! We could really use that money to fix up the house and send you kids to a great university!”
The boy then went to his sister and asked, “Would you sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars?” The girl replied, “Oh, good heavens! I love Brad Pitt, and I would sleep with him in a heartbeat. Are you nuts?”
The boy then went to his brother and asked, “Would you sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars?” “Of course,” the brother replied. “Do you know how much a million bucks would buy?”
The boy pondered the answers for a few days and then went back to his dad. His father asked him, “Did you find out the difference between ‘potentially’ and ‘realistically’?” The boy replied, “Yes. ‘Potentially’ you and I are sitting on three million dollars, but ‘realistically’ we’re living with two hookers and a future congressman.”

An atheist was seated next to a dusty old cowboy on an airplane and he turned to him and said, “Do you want to talk? Flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger.”

The old cowboy, who had just started to read his book, replied to the total stranger, “What would you want to talk about?”

“Oh, I don’t know,” said the atheist. “How about why there is no God, or no Heaven or Hell, or no life after death?” as he smiled smugly.

“Okay,” he said. “Those could be interesting topics but let me ask you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff – grass. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, but a horse produces clumps. Why do you suppose that is?”

The atheist, visibly surprised by the old cowboy's intelligence, thinks about it and says, “Hmmm, I have no idea.”

To which the cowboy replies, “Do you really feel qualified to discuss God, Heaven and Hell, or life after death, when you don’t know crap?”

Spin Zone / Re: Love Poverty? Move to democrat Run State
« on: October 11, 2022, 10:09:44 AM »
Learned a new term today: "Urban plantation".  Exactly what the democrats imported from plantations in the south when the North defeated them.  And now doing exactly the same thing today that they did in the 1800s.  Serving their democrat masters.

Wait, let me get this straight:

Before Civil War:  Slaves in the south served plantation Masters who were Democrats.

Civil War frees slaves and many move into the cities.

2022:  Descendants of slaves now serve (vote for) Democrats who are the masters of the cities.

Spin Zone / Re: Paypal now full censorship
« on: October 10, 2022, 04:31:06 AM »
That cuts off about half-way through the first page - at least when I view it.
It is a 7 page document and the "misinformation" clause appears on page 2. So I searched for the file name of the document and by gum I found Paypal merely moved it to here:
https://www.paypalobjects.com/marketing/ua/pdf/AU/en/acceptableuse-full-110322.pdf

This is the offending paragraph:

"You may not use PayPal's services for activities that:
[...]
5. involve the sending, posting or publication of any messages, content or materials
that, in PayPal’s sole discretion, (a) are harmful, obscene, harassing or objectionable, (b) depict or appear to depict nudity, sexual or other intimate activities, (c) depict or promote illegal drug use, (d) depict or promote violence,  criminal activity, cruelty or self-harm (e) depict, promote or incite hatred or discrimination of protected groups or of individuals or groups based on protected characteristics (e.g. race, religion, gender or gender identity, sexual orientation etc.) (f) presents a risk to consumer safety or (financial) wellbeing, (g) are fraudulent, promote misinformation or are unlawful, (h) infringes the intellectual property rights or other proprietary rights of any party or (i) are otherwise unfit for publication."

I had intended to highlight "misinformation" but just too many other things worth highlighting. Sellers of artwork like Venus de Milo hardest hit. And horror and war films. And so on....

My link cuts off halfway through the first page because it is a screenshot on an archive site, specifically for the purpose of memorializing evidence after it’s scrubbed off the rest of the internet.  Note the first paragraph that mentions the $2,500 “liquidated damages” that PayPal will debit from your account if you engage in wrong speak in their sole opinion. That’s the offending paragraph.

EDIT:  NO NO NO NO.  That link had all 7 pages!  It was another archive link that only had half the first page, the one I posted had the whole thing  yesterday.  I went to my desktop with Windows and the page was still open, and I was able to download it!

EDIT AGAIN:  It still has all 7 pages.  But when I click it in Safari on my iPad it indeed only shows half of the first page.  Have you tried clicking on it in Windows?

My modest attempts to determine his wealth came up empty. Well, not empty but of such a huge range as to be useless. The competing propaganda makes any attempt along those lines somewhat futile - or a deep rabbit hole.

I'm afraid I have to dismiss the issue of wealth as secondary or even irrelevant and look to more useful metrics. As a leader he seems to be doing well: He has cajoled the west into backing his fight and the armed forces appear to have been effective. Unknown how efficient, though, because there is a blackout on combat losses.

Controlling public opinion, and thus the flow of money, by suppressing truth and creating a narrative is very effective. I don’t know how we can ever achieve a channel of truth to the people.

Steingar is so funny, but so typically left.

Leaps to assume positions of people in discussion that said people don’t hold.

Whole-hearted debate might reveal a flaw in his reasoning (if indeed reasoning it can be called), so BLAM!!! He blows up the auditorium so he doesn’t have to discuss anything meaningful with those therein.

You guys are such fucking idiots.  Zelensky was a fucking TV comedian before he got himself elected President of Ukraine.  He's rich, he could have fled and lived large just about anywhere, he had the money.  He chose to stay despite an uncertain future, and has lead his people to victory after victory.  I hope the Ukrainians win and get back ALL of their territory.

Only here would the corrupt autocrat of a giant country be rooted for against a smaller democracy.  Only here.

Don’t include me in that!  I said him not fleeing is what I like.  And I am in no way rooting for Russia!  I too hope they win and get back all their territory but realistically I think Zelensky may end up having to compromise.  And just because I don’t want to keep sending him money doesn’t mean I’m on Russia’s side.  Good Lord.

Spin Zone / Re: Covidiocy Continued
« on: October 03, 2022, 05:36:07 AM »
The health care system we use here has a hospital with a wing of doctor's offices attached.  Since COVID, only the main entrance and ER entrance have been accessible. A side door that gets you to the elevators has been blocked.  I made an ER visit Friday, nothing serious, and when I walked into the ER to check in with my mask on and noticed the receptionist was not wearing a mask. I asked if masks were optional and she said yes, mask off immediately.  Very few employees were wearing masks, visitors were probably 50/50.  Had an Ultrasound to rule out blood clots and the tech is very conservative, so we had an interesting discussion.  He said that every patient he has contact with he asks if they think COVID came from a bat or was intentional. Majority answer intentional.

I'm here this morning having chauffeured my wife to an appointment. Side door is now open and we don't have to check with anyone when entering.

Apparently they didn't wait long after the CDC dropped their mask recommendation for medical facilities.  I hate to tell leftists, but it's over.

Meloni… “She’s so frightening she actually believes in ending the European energy crisis… by going back to fossil fuels and nuclear energy; reliable base load power. … at least her country will have the lights on.”

THIS is what the left calls fascism.

He was the real deal. Fought in THREE wars.
And an Ace in P-38s, P-51s, and F-4 Phantoms. Played football at West Point, married a movie star, etc.  Kind of like my life. Lol

If you haven’t read “Robin Olds, Fighter Pilot”, I highly recommend it. It’s also a 17 hour audio book.
