Spin Zone / Re: Why does Trump say stupid shit like this?
« on: January 17, 2020, 10:36:52 AM »
Simple.

Trump uses twitter like a laser pointer, and the liberals are the cat.

The Hill will blow this out of proportion (and they are a cat herder).

Stupid shit.  Shall I make a posting of all the stupid shit being said by the liberals and progressives right now and in the recent past?  Funny thing is the MSM will not write about that.

Finally, we are entering the senate impeachment trial.  The next few weeks the MSM is going to go throttle up on anything and everything to sling at Trump.  The MSM want him gone, and they want to punish his supporters.   It's gonna be a wild ride.

All joking aside, this is in it's infancy.    The database will grow as more data mining continues.   It's only a matter of time until a reputation score evolves.

For those that haven't noticed, the credit score outfits are now offering a "boost" to peoples credit scores.   And how to get that boost?  Simple, go to their site and answer a bunch of data questions and they'll throw you a bone and give you a few points.   Data mining for the ignorant, much like social media.

Speaking of data mining, has anyone here done the 24&me where you send your dna sample in for a reading?  Not only do you pay them, but now they are building one helluva dna database that is potentially worth billions.

China is using face recognition technology for their social credit program. It terrifies me. You will never convince me that sort of thing cannot happen in the U.S.

Social credit is already here.  Go google your name or someone else and you'll see a mylife.com pop up, and there you can see their "reputation score".

I'm seeing a strong uptick in retail, service industry, trade jobs and other sectors.

In those areas pay has come up.   Diesel mechanics, as an example, are in high demand.  Building trades jobs are in demand.  Even aviation sector jobs are in demand with steadily increasing incomes.

Spin Zone / Hey, GOP! This is What Pushback Looks Like

Quote
Republican voters have lamented for years over the lack of pushback from their elected leaders. Democrats and the media hurl baseless and libelous accusations at Republicans, only to be met with a weak defense at best, or silence at worst.

Republicans want to push granny off a cliff, make senior citizens eat dog food, starve children and put them in cages. Republicans are racist, sexist, bigoted, homophobic, Islamophobic, mean-spirited, and ignorant.

Watch any cable news show and get a healthy dose of this garbage. If you don’t like the news, watch late night “comedy,” entertainment award shows, or virtually any television series to hear much the same. It’s one-way propaganda with no pushback.

As one of the all-time great propagandists Joseph Goebbels summed it up, “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

In the last few years, however, the tide is turning. Pushback is being demonstrated by our pugilist-in-chief, President Donald Trump. And others are following his lead.

Maybe, but job reqs are still specifying unicorns, and I haven't noticed any uptick in compensation.

What jobs are you looking at?

Yes but that was because the feds froze wages so companies used health insurance instead to make up the compensation needed to attract the employee. When you screw with natural market prices based on supply/demand, bad things happen. That led to the horrible situation today where your insurance is tied to your job. This is a widespread disaster. You lose your job, your entire family loses insurance. You cannot buy it individually, it’s unaffordable. Now you have the left crying for government run healthcare as the solution when it was government that created the mess in the first place.

Correct.  I hadn't remembered the exact details in play, except for it was used as an incentive.

So maybe the government will create a dept of animal adoption now?   ???

Employer provided health insurance was began as a way to entice and keep employees after WW2 due to the same thing we are experiencing now.

In today's paper I saw a Tribune News Service article about a new perk some companies are offering:  paid time off when adopting a pet, albeit a one-time perk.

I love pets, especially dogs, but words fail me...

Just another sign of a roaring economy and record low unemployment.  There are more jobs than people to fill them.   Companies are having to get creative in attracting new employees, and retaining existing ones.

Spin Zone / Re: Excellent video from an Iranian/American
« on: January 10, 2020, 04:22:11 PM »
That's been my experience with the few Iranians I have met.  They are wonderful, well educated, hard working people.  That is why I am so hostile to their government and think we should liberate that country from their leaders.  Actually, that is not why I think we should liberate them.  We should depose their leaders because they are a threat to the US.  I just don't think we should be the ones to install a new government.  Perhaps NATO (that useless bunch of pricks) could set up a police force while they organize themselves.

Your espousing the Bush Doctrine.  And while it may sound reasonable, it's not.

First of all, if we go in and "remove" the current regime, then we own it.  And that means billions upon billions of dollars, our dollars.

And don't look to NATO to offer up any help, well, unless we foot the bill.

On the subject of "liberation". Right now we have a large percentage of people in the US that would like to see a "regime change" here.   So should several countries get together and "invade" the US to force a regime change here and liberate the leftist and progressives?

Sound absurd?  Of course it is.  But so it would be for the US to go liberate Iran.   Let the Iranian people throw out the government if they don't like it.  It's not the job of the US to go around the world and remove governments it doesn't like.

Call me crazy, but this thought has crossed my mind:

OK, so maybe someone in the Iranian leadership had determined that Qassim Suleimani had grown too big for his britches, maybe a loose cannon even. But, Iran couldn't be connected with taking him out I'd think, knowing his power and following. So, Trump takes out the bad General, both the US and Iran benefit, and Iran lobs some softballs at the American base to appease the masses.

Nuts, or .......
