Spin Zone / Re: Your 4th Amendment Right........
« on: May 27, 2017, 06:48:15 AM »
Most of the NSA's domestic intelligence gathering tactics were developed during the administration of Bush II.  Not to try and say it wasn't Obama's fault, I suspect he could have done a great deal to stop the program had he wished, though I suspect strongly that any such move would have been strongly opposed by the Congressional GOP.  And do keep in mind that Benedict Donald hasn't made any moves to end it either, and I doubt he will.

So the Chocolate Commie is caught red handed spying (illegally) on US citizens and your come back is "it's George Bush's fault!"......

LOL!

After all, Flynn has yet to be charged with a crime. If there is evidence that he betrayed his country, it has yet to be presented. None of the many news stories about Flynn's contacts with Russians and Turks has accused him of being disloyal to his country. And yet a decorated general has already been tried and convicted in the press.

None of this would be happening without some very dirty business from the national security state. It's a two-pronged campaign. First there are the whispers. Anonymous officials describe in detail elements of an ongoing investigation: intercepts of conversations between Russian officials about how they could influence Flynn during the transition; monitored phone calls about how Flynn had lied about his conversations with the Russian ambassador to his colleagues; how Flynn failed to disclose his payment from the Russian propaganda network on his official forms. This prong of the campaign is at least factual, but the facts don't speak for themselves.

The second and more insidious element here is the innuendo. Yates never says Flynn was a spy for Russia. But her public remarks to Congress and the media appear designed to leave that impression. As she told Lizza, Flynn was "compromised by the Russians." This sounds far more sinister than Flynn's explanation when he left his post in February. Back then he said he had forgotten elements of his discussion with the Russian ambassador that covered a wide range of issues.

The Democratic defeat in a hard-fought special House election in Montana on Thursday highlighted the practical limitations on liberal opposition to President Trump and exposed a deepening rift between cautious party leaders, who want to pick their shots in battling for control of Congress in 2018, and more militant grass-roots activists who want to fight the Republicans everywhere.

Essentially we are already doing it.

That's a big part of the problem.

On the "R" side, there is Cruz,
and my personal (least) favorite, John McCain.

John McCain is further proof of why we need term limits.

« on: May 26, 2017, 08:32:50 AM »
President Trump sent his first full budget proposal to Congress this week. It's got some interesting bits in there and some I don't agree with. Notable is the nearly 30% decrease in the Department of State budget which I disagree with,

So we should keep sending tax payer's money to other countries as "foreign aid"?

How about keeping that money here and spending on our own aid?

I for one am tired of giving countries that hate us money in hopes of winning favor with them.

I hope this is true.  My fear is that too many people will eventually believe the repeated, and repeated Democrat/Media lies.

Problem with that is the overplaying of their hand.  The idiotic ramblings of Schumer and Pelosi, the mass hysteria being whipped up by the progressives and the MSM unbridled contempt for the president has really opened people eyes.

Had they remained calm and acted responsibly, then I would say they have a chance.  But they have really blown it and I don't see them backing down, only getting worse.

Just look at idiocy such as this:  http://www.theamericanmirror.com/nancy-pelosi-complains-trump-not-visiting-countries-alphabetical-order/

Does anyone (reasonable) want this hag back as speaker?

Not necessarily. The Republicans were sent to the majorities in the House and Senate and given the White House to repeal Obamacare, build a wall and get tax reform through. So far none of that has happened or even come close. There's still time, but the mid-terms will be here soon. If this doesn't happen then I could see the Republicans losing at least one chamber of Congress. The Democrats still have an uphill battle for the Senate but it's not completely out of play for them yet.

The budget that the President sent to Congress this week looks pretty good from what I've seen so far and I've been impressed by a lot of Mick Mulvaney's answers to the press and congressmen/women. The President's budget probably deserves its own thread, though.

The people in the flyover country are paying attention.   They watch the fake news, they watch as the progressives are becoming even more unhinged and they are watching as the media and progressives do everything they possibly can to bring down this administration.

These people aren't idiots.  After watching this they will not walk in the voting booth and hand power to Chuck Schumer or Nancy Pelosi.   They WILL vote out republicans who have reneged on their promises and replace them with new blood.  Let's hope it starts with Paul Ryan.

What we may be seeing is a backlash against the media, and Dems for the way they have acted since the Trump election.  They have tried to de-legitimize him daily even since before he took office.  They were calling for impeachment prior to the start of his term!  Losers!

They have way overplayed their hand and they will march into the midterms using fake polls and fake news again only to emerge in an even bigger loss.

As far as anyone knows, Trump never grabbed anyone.

 Yep.

But the MSM had people believing he was a serial rapist while their preferred candidate HRC had a husband that actually was.

Spin Zone / Re: Should the Washington Post be held responsible?
« on: May 26, 2017, 06:04:25 AM »
The two aren't related. It would most definitely become a first amendment issue. If the government can start prosecuting news outlets for publishing information they receive, then that's the beginning of censorship. Stop people from leaking and the news outlets won't have anything to share. Sometimes news outlets do publish good information from whistleblowers that needs to be brought to light.

They absolutely are related as the rule of law is the rule of law.   These are two examples showing how activist judges will uphold the constitution (rightly so) as long as it fits their agenda, but then strike down a very plain language law because it doesn't fit their agenda.

The rule of law doesn't distinguish between political ideologies or parties and should never be adjudicated in that manner.

I wonder if the results would've been different had 70% of the voting not been done early given the candidate assaulted the reporter? Otherwise, these special elections are hardly referendums or repudiations of Trump. The Democrats love to use that line as if it makes a difference. I think there's a lot that could make the Republicans lose either or both houses in the mid-terms but a special election doesn't count as a repudiation of Trump.

This is now the third election in which the MSM was proclaiming this election would signal the repudiation of Trump and show that Americans wanted Trump gone.

Just like their polling and fake news during the presidential election, the MSM still doesn't get it.

The law on this is very clear, 8 USC 1182(f).

As the U.S. Supreme Court said in 2004 in U.S. v. Flores-Montano, “The government’s interest in preventing the entry of unwanted persons and effects is at its zenith at the international border.”
