"In an email sent to CSULA Young Americans for Freedom, late Monday, college President William Covino said he had decided to reschedule the group’s “When Diversity Becomes a Problem” event with Ben Shapiro, a well-known conservative commentator and author.
“It will be best for our campus community if we reschedule Ben Shapiro’s appearance for a later date, so that we can arrange for him to appear as part of a group of speakers with differing viewpoints on diversity,” Covino wrote in the email. “We will be happy to work with Mr. Shapiro to schedule the more inclusive event that I have in mind.”"

"In such matters as the death of a great man, respect matters -- especially from our political leaders. Dignity and sober ceremony are called for. These are not trivial requirements, nor are they mere accessories to the event. They are part of the bedrock of enlightened civilization. Surely when America's president appeared before the TV cameras Saturday evening to deliver his scripted remarks about the death of a Supreme Court Justice, the great Antonin Scalia, Obama should have taken the trouble to dress at least as well as your average law student applying for a summer job."

"The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has proposed a regulation to prohibit conversion of vehicles originally designed for on-road use into racecars. The regulation would also make the sale of certain products for use on such vehicles illegal. The proposed regulation was contained within a non-related proposed regulation entitled “Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Fuel Efficiency Standards for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Engines and Vehicles—Phase 2.”
The regulation would impact all vehicle types, including the sports cars, sedans and hatch-backs commonly converted strictly for use at the track. While the Clean Air Act prohibits certain modifications to motor vehicles, it is clear that vehicles built or modified for racing, and not used on the streets, are not the “motor vehicles” that Congress intended to regulate."

I just wanted to say that I really like this venue, I like that people can assemble to spout off and agree or disagree, and I appreciate that Jaybird has the cojones to go into the "den of infidels" to try to enlighten us.
While I may disagree with him on probably 99% of politics and/or religion, we are brothers in the air and I would gladly ride right seat with him any time. This kind of fellowship may, in the long run, help us to overcome our disagreements. Maybe, Worth a try?

The rewards of the doctor patient relationship and the intellectual stimulation of clinical problem-solving were enough to keep some of us in the primary care trenches. But it was a close call.
With the introduction of CMS's unethical incentive and penalty programs, most notably the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) and Meaningful Use (MU), an unpleasant practice environment was now an unacceptable one for me."
"The notion that PQRS promotes quality care rests on the flawed assumption that a bloated federal bureaucracy, CMS, can be nimble enough to produce quality measures that keep up with the rapidly evolving state of scientific evidence. Reality contradicts that assumption. "
