“Police State” is a movie that I never wanted to make, because I never wanted America to get to a point where a movie like this needed to be made. I feel like the animal that alerts the herd to approaching danger, so we can take precautionary steps before it’s too late.

“The police state isn’t coming, it’s already here.
The signs are everywhere. And once you recognize them, your senses will be heightened to the danger we’re all in.”

Seven fatal shootings have rocked Daytona Beach since the beginning of the year and police officials said they have plans to combat the rise in gun violence.

The strategies designed to fight the wave of gun violence include an intensified collaboration with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to enhance intelligence sharing and coordination of all enforcement efforts, the chief said.

“This joint approach allows us to pool our expertise and resources to identify, apprehend, and prosecute those responsible for perpetuating violence in our community,” the chief said.

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley says she supports a proposed bill that would make it legal to carry guns without a permit or training, The State newspaper reports.

The proposed Constitutional Carry Act (S. 115) would decriminalize carrying a firearm without a permit — effectively eliminating the need for a concealed weapons license and related training — and would allow people to carry firearms either concealed or out in the open.

“Criminals are dangerous," Haley said Tuesday, "and I think that every resident should be allowed to protect themselves from criminals."

If enacted, South Carolina would be the sixth state with such a law. Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Vermont and Wyoming already have similar laws on the books
