Pilot Zone / Getting a call sign
« on: June 02, 2016, 05:52:06 AM »
Sorry about the aviation related thread here in the zone,

But how does one get a call sign?

I plan to fly to Canada this fall so I applied or an RR (Restricted Radiotelephone License).  I thought I would be assigned a call sign, but I wasn't.

Also, how do you get a radio station license for the plane?  I went to the site to apply, but it pops up a PDF, but has no directions on where to send it.  I finally figured out how to edit and sign the PDF online, but when I try to send it, it promtps me for an Adobe username and password.  I happen to have that so I entered that and tried again to submit, but it merely creates a link that I can provide to someone else to "share" the document.

Perhaps I am too stupid to fly to Canada, but I can't figure this shit out.

Spin Zone / Does Gary Johnson have a chance?
« on: May 30, 2016, 04:55:20 AM »
The Libertarian party has again selected Gary Johnson as their nominee.

With all the negatives of the current crop of nominees, does anyone think Johnson has an actual chance to win?

I for one would vote for him if I didn't see it as helping Hillary.  But if enough Democrats are discouraged enough with Hillary to vote for Johnson, and if he actually has a chance, I would vote for him.

Spin Zone / Trump: Regulate less, drill more

That I Donald Trump's energy independence plan.

I wonder how Clinton's plan compares.  I'm going to assume "Regulate more; drill less".

Which position do YOU subscribe to the most?

Compare this list to any that Hillary might propose:

I wonder if she knew about this?

Clinton’s presence aboard Jeffrey Epstein’s Boeing 727 on 11 occasions has been reported, but flight logs show the number is more than double that,  . . . The tricked-out jet earned its Nabakov-inspired nickname because it was reportedly outfitted with a bed where passengers had group sex with young girls.

At least it wasn't young boys!

Pilot Zone / Foreflight question
« on: May 08, 2016, 01:50:26 PM »
I have sent this question to Foreflight, but in the meantime,

I have added the Canadian Subscription to my account.  I downloaded the Canadian charts but I was still unable to see the Canadian charts (vfr or lowifr).  I finally figured out that I had to go into map options and select the Canadian charts.   :-[  But then I couldn't see the US charts!  >:(

I want to plan a flight from Florida, to, through and around Canada and it would be much easier if I could have both charts visible at once.  Is there something I am missing?

To keep this "spin zone" oriented, if Hillary becomes President, I may want to find an English speaking escape.  ;)  (That's a joke son, a joke I tell ya).

Another question:  What would be the best time of year for a Florida boy to fly into Canada in a plane that doesn't know how to spell FIKI?

Spin Zone / Jobs report; what to make of it?
« on: May 06, 2016, 05:49:58 AM »
Anything less than 200,000 new jobs is disappointing.
They were estimating an anemic 190,000.
The new number for April is 160,000.  :(

When does the attack on Hillary start?  And how will it look?

Considering Sanders won Indiana, could Trump be waiting for more certainty that Hillary will get the nod?

Spin Zone / Slow growth
« on: April 28, 2016, 06:39:59 AM »
The USeconomy grew at 0.5% last Quarter. That is anemic.

Just imagine the growth we would have if we didn't tax repatriated funds.  A trillion bucks would come scurrying home.

Spin Zone / Why do liberals thing the economy is good?
« on: April 21, 2016, 07:02:12 AM »
I keep hearing liberals say how good the economy is.
The stock market is up and unemployment is down they say.

Ok, the economy is fine for me.  Things look good for me.  So I should believe them, shouldn't I.

But there are fewer people working than ever.  Wages have stagnated.
Too many people can't survive without government assistance.  I see these as bad things.

But I'm a conservative so I  don't care about poor people (at least that's what I read in the paper).

And aren't liberals the one's that are supposed to worry about the poor people?  Then why do they keep singing the praises of an economy that squashes the life and respectability out of poor people?

You can't fix a problem until you admit there is a problem.  Government Assistance (or as I call them; government dis-incentive programs) are not fixing anything.  They merely permit the poor to exist slightly above squalor, but if those poor people try to improve, they lose all that assistance.  Most can't or wont' take that risk.

Liberals even admit that things like raising the minimum wage will hurt the very poorest because they will be put of reach of any job.  Why is that ok with them?

Huge corporations (Apple, IBM, Google, GE etc) have trillions of dollars off-shore that they wold have to pay 40% taxes on if they repatriate that money.  So they don't.  Why would liberals prefer that money to stay out of our economy rather than allowing those corporations to keep it if they bring it back?

I think I have the emotional capability of being a liberal if they could bring logic and practicality to the table.  A rich  economy can take care of the poor.  But a government that tries to drive a wedge between the rich and the poor is going to see a great divide between the rich and the poor.  Which is EXACTLY what we have today.
