As a nation, we've been moving ever left for more than 40 years. Of course, Roe v Wade was a big example, but there are many and varied other conditions which show a gradual but inevitable slide to the liberal, progressive, left. NTTAWWT. I don't mind liberalism when it is presented as a main-stream philosophy among other main-stream philosophical means to manage large populations. Some of the ideals of the liberals have been good - exactly like Roe v Wade(as much as I deride the method, the means were correct).
Where I got off is when the progressives are no longer willing(or able?) to ALLOW, and I use that word correctly, alternative philosophies to exist. I am gobsmacked that liberals in position of power consider themselves, and their movement as open, inviting, and tolerant of other POV. When the opposite is exactly the face shown by nearly all liberal/progs. They become vicious, angry, confrontational, strident, and violent in the face of conservative opposition of ANY ideal.
Which strikes me as so strange that the lib/progs can't see it! 'Trump is gassing women and children at the border!!!' Yeah - it's the same thing Obama did. 'Trump is taking kids away from families and locking them up!!!' Yeah - so did the past 20 administrations. 'Trump is Putin's puppet because he talked to him during the campaign!!!' Ok, but Obama was caught on a open mic telling him he would have more freedom after the election. WTF? It pains me to defend Trump, with all his warts, but at least the guy is always, always, always pulling for the US, and not trying to take our country down a peg or two.
Naturally, there has been an uprising from lib/progs who have had enough. The outpouring of the Walkaway movement has NO counterpart with conservatives leaving in anger from their party and joining up to the opposition. Under the constant social, political, educational, and media onslaught of liberalism, it's become a literal cult. People who leave are vilified, ostracized and in this case they are divorced because someone is not liberal, or in one case liberal, but not angry/strident/outraged enough!
It's effing ridiculous. And no, there is not even a scintilla of commonality from the conservative/right side. About the worst we have is Nugent, and he's pretty strident. But on a case for case basis, the scales of extremism falls to the libs/progs by a large margin.
