Spin Zone / Re: Repealing Obamacare
« on: February 06, 2017, 11:29:58 AM »
Unraveling the mess left by the greatest hoax on the American voters will take time.

You mean the second greatest hoax on the American voters.  The first is the HOAX of man made climate change.  If they just repealed Obamacare too quickly, the lib/progs (Democrats, Steingar, etc) would be bitching that it caused too many problems.

Unless you are an Aboriginal you are descended from immigrants.

Being a DESCADANT from immigrants is vastly different from BEING an immigrant.  Also, our family members came here legally, worked hard, and ASSIMILATED.  They didn't bring their law from their previous country here.

Michelle Obama is a hypocrite like her husband was.  She preached healthy eating but gorged herself on fried foods.  She is disgusting.

I may not agree with Obama's policies, but to insinuate that he or his wife did not show dignity and class in both physical appearance and etiquette is purely facetious.  Truly a warped viewpoint if your believe otherwise.

I saw no class in either Obama, nor Michelle.  Both were America Hating, and divisive people, that used their positions for personal gain, and were no better than the Clintons.

Oh but Steingar blames the unwashed masses from his Ivory Tower.  We are so stupid to select freedom over his oppression and TYRANNY.  Please, if I wanted oppression, I'd go back to college.

I wonder what the statistics are for the ability to find a job after unemployment benefits expire....

Unemployment lasts for six months.  Depending on the industry, skill, and employment level it can take longer than that to find a job, especially in the Obama economy with extremely low GDP growth rate, and the weight of Obamacare on employers forcing many to hire positions that have under 30 hours per week.  Any recovery we did have under Obama was a jobless recovery, therefore not any recovery at all.

I would wager that there are MANY that are unemployed, but no longer counted in the unemployment stats as their benefits expired.  Just check the more realistic numbers of people not in the workforce.  Real unemployment is probably closer to 20% than what the Feds are saying.

I guess Michael should show more respect, huh.

Kind of like these people did.

So those media people weren't telling the truth?  How were they disrespectful calling Obama a socialist?  He is worse than a socialist.  He is a fasco-communist.  Read Frank Marshall Davis, and Saul Alinsky, his mentors.  Obama truly hates America because he thinks it is an abusive colonial power.  Do you think that also?  That is nothing compared to the outright lies the media says about Trump DAILY.

I don't care if you or Michael shows any respect to Trump.  YOU LOST.  Get over it!

that everyone grew up in an environment that fostered their ability to succeed.  In many of these lifetime welfare cases, these people have been surrounded by others who never escaped poverty, and know nothing other than welfare, drugs, and broken homes.  It's not like you and I, where if we were forced with a life on welfare, or pursuing a better job, we would have have the wherewithal to achieve the latter.  So, you provide them with a step-by-step plan that moves them along the road to getting themselves out of poverty.

I am just of the mentality that, with people in many of these situations, they just aren't motivated the same way you and I are.  Since they can't see past the next paycheck, you can't make them realize it's better on the other side.  As Becky mentioned, it's not a simple problem in the least, and it certainly won't be fixed with a simple answer or else it would have been implemented by now.

At one point in my life I thought everyone had opportunity, and that if you wanted something enough you'd work hard to get it.  I no longer believe this is the case.  As you say above, there are people that no nothing but poverty, and everyone around them only knows poverty.  They neither have hope for improvement nor a blueprint for how to achieve a better, self supporting life.  There are a few that beat the odds out of shear perseverance.  That is rare.  I believe most of the urban poor have given up.  There is no easy solution to this problem, but I know the current system isn't helping, it is hurting.

Okay, I agree with you.

How do you propose fixing it?

First put a cap on how many children will get additional funding given to the mother.  I bet the babies will largely stop coming then.  Put an actual work component for receiving benefits after a certain time frame.  Not make believe jobs, real jobs even if they are just public works items.  For SELECTED men, and women of age, maybe a mandatory military, or public service component.

This is a difficult issue because typically government run programs for anything turn corrupt, and/or very inefficient, and poorly run.

If the SNAP program and resulting food stamps are such a blight on our budget, what would a replacement be?

Personally, I have no problem with welfare, or SNAP, but I do have a problem with incentivizing having more, and more children purely to get government money.  I think we should provide a safety net, but not have government use welfare to control generations of poor people.

Our media, the Democrats, our Educational system, and much of our government, in the modern era, has pushed a Progressive/Liberal agenda since the 1960's.  Some of these policies, on the surface look altruistic, yet in reality are not only destructive but are designed to give government bureaucrats, and politicians more control, and power while taking away from the truly productive.

These policies have FAILED, and have been utterly destructive to much of society, especially the people that it was supposedly designed to help.  All lies where people like the Clintons get RICH, and even more powerful.  They need to be pulled out of their offices, and mansions, and tarred, and feathered.  Not just Democrats either.  McCain, Lindsay Graham, etc also.

Trump made his money from private sector business transactions, and taking business risks.  The Clintons made their money through government influence and selling that influence to the highest bidder, no matter who they were.
