I'm a woman and I hear ya. I seriously don't know how men (or lesbians) put up with us.

Some just don't.  I doubt I may ever live with a woman again.  I certainly won't get married again, and am happy with casual relationships from time to time.  My freedom, and sanity are too important to me. 

I was dating a woman who once exclaimed "Your house looks too masculine!" or something to that affect.  I told her it looks like a guy lives here because ONE DOES.  Many women just seem to have the controlling, feminization gene.  No thanks.

The Assault Weapons Ban that lasted from 1994 - 2004 did absolutely nothing to reduce crime.  Nothing.  All it did was awaken people's desire to have another good rifle like the AR-15. 

Don't waste your pity on me, unless you think everyone should like exactly the same things.

Maybe when I get old I will like slow airplanes.  But I'm only 67 now.

I thoroughly agree with all of you that say that banning or infringing on our right to own is not the answer to these mass shootings.

But I am trying to think through some ideas that may help.  I'm failing.

Does anyone have any constructive ideas?  Or should we just accept the fact that in a free society, there is nothing we can do to help ensure the belief stated in the Declaration of Independence that we are endowed with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.  Merely killing or executing the murderers doesn't seem like enough.

I hope you read my other post responding to you about the language of the Second Amendment.  It is very central to keeping our rights.

That being said I think we should.

1.  Eliminate gun free zones as mass shooters look for those as they know they won't be opposed until police show up several minutes or more later.

2.  Expand the right to carry a firearm for the law abiding.  Many states unconstitutionally restrict this right. 

3.  Address mental illness red flags.  Not with more intrusive laws, but examining, and monitoring those that exhibit dangerous behavior, or make CLEARLY dangerous statements.

4.  Harshly prosecute, and mandate long sentences for where the vast majority of violence with a gun is committed.  Inner city Black, on Black violence often committed by men that already have FELONY records and are already prohibited from even touching a gun.  They get plea deals and are out of jail only to commit more crimes.

5.  Allow the NRA to conduct gun safety classes, and programs ins schools.

6.  Give trained teachers the ability to voluntarily carry a concealed firearm.

7.  Stop the Media from glorifying mass shooters purely to sensationalize and advance their Democrat agenda.

I think he cares enough to want to clarify his position - and to argue as he thinks the peaceful protestors in Charlottesville might argue, equating Washington with Lee because both were slave owners. But if he had better social smarts, he would have realized that that argument would only dig the hole he was in deeper.

It's probably true that he doesn't care about trying to win over people on the left, so in that sense I agree with you. But I think he just doesn't know how to lead, to bring people together, and that he doesn't care in part because he doesn't know how. That's not one of his talents. So it all comes down to whether you think that's important or not. I think it is because of all the time and energy that's wasted on both sides arguing about and defending Trump's awkward statements. I don't think it's absolutely disqualifying, but it is a negative. I would still rather have Trump than Sanders in the White House, but I'd rather have a competent solid conservative with good communications skills (like Tom Cotton) than Trump. And I'd settle for one of the more moderate Dem candidates, if one of them can secure the nomination. I'm starting to think, though, that that's not going to happen, and it's going to be either Sanders or Warren, or MAYBE Cory Booker, going up against Trump next year. That's kind of my worst nightmare, politically speaking.

All good cogent thoughts, and I'm not being patronizing.  Agree, that Trump shoots himself in the foot A LOT when it comes to opening himself up to a very leftist media.  I would love to advise him on his tweets, and statements.  But again, it shows the honesty of the man. 

I'm a results guy.  I see the positives like low unemployment, and historically low for the Black community, and other economic and quality of life indicators that the Media and Democrats said would all be horrific if Trump won.  NONE of that has come true, quite the opposite in fact.  No new wars, good economy, low inflation, still low interest rates, low unemployment.  All good.  All better than what we had under Obama.  ALL of it. 

Would I like to have a diplomatic, well spoken conservative/libertarian/Constitutionalist?  Yes, but would that person be as effective as Trump?  Dunno. 

Video worked for me on Win 10 Firefox. Basically some guy pointing out that web companies are doing what others have done since the dawn of the Republic. But it is "bad" because their modern techniques are harder to notice. I predict the solution will be laws proposed that pretty much trash the first amendment. The guy's main complaint is that these corporations (or at least their rich head honchos) can send out email or web reminders urging only, say, Democrats. Like that bias is some sort of crime or subversive behavior.

No, you are absolutely wrong.  These companies control the flow of information.  Google, MSN, Apple, Facebook, Twitter, etc.  It would be like AT&T before the break up of Ma Bell breaking in on your conversation and telling you that you can't say what you are saying, or just cutting off your conversation altogether. 

These are monopolies that have become utilities like the phone, electric, water, etc.  This is a anti trust issue.
